Speed Download (Download Manager)
Growl (cool popup notification manager - most apps support it)
Little Snitch (firewall)
other ones I use:
Textmate (Best text editor *ever*)
Transmit (ftp client, works very well with Textmate)
No, you're right - providing that you've plugged it into a "normal" IDE socket or one which windows has drivers for, plug it into something exotic for which there are no drivers on the installation and it wont work.
I can't set the appropriate permissions on the parent folder because the server setup requires "world read access" on the folders, which obviously propogates down.
My only option is to chmod the files after uploading to take away world readability.
Because you can use native OS X apps for the 99% of the time that use the computer and when you have to use a piece of software that is only available under windows, then it's available to use either through bootcamp or parallels.
Need to upload php files to a server, does anybody know of an FTP client that allows you to set the default permissions on a file by type.
for example, I need all my php files to have the permission 760 by default, no world access is very important!
I can't seem to find a windows one which...
Once they give a release date, all machines sold from that point will be able to upgrade to Leopard for free.
Otherwise it'll likely be somewhere in the region of £90 to upgrade (providing there are no price hikes this time around). From memory, it was cheaper on amazon than it was from the...
I know. But apple were seeding complete versions of panther/tiger to developers for a long time prior to its release.
The last major update to tiger (10.4.9) has been seeding to developers for 3 months before it was considered worthy enough for release.
Apple have yet to seed a complete...
That's because it's running under rosetta, that's not really Apples or OS X's fault, blame adobe for using Codewarrior and not porting their code base to X Code sooner.
Yep. I thought it was brilliant when I installed it this morning!
I seriously doubt this, I expect that it'll be...
June I'd imagine, unless you're a developer (like moi) or a dodgy geezer and you could have it now.
Can't see it before then and as they still haven't released the "secret features" into the wild for bug reports. If rumours are true and the finder is going to be replaced, then they're going to...
It's on purpose, because it's f**king annoying on a laptop when you catch it when you hit backspace and it ejects the cd.
I and many other laptop owners are rejoicing at this new feature. Big thumbs up! :)
Lets not forget that any unused credit from a month rolls over to the next month. (only once, and your new months credit is used before the rolled over credit - but it's still very good)
I'm with KDF. Sounds like you want the ceiling and not a rounded number. It works in your case because it'll round up. I assume (and KDF seems too as well) that if you got a result of 6.1 you'd want the answer to be 7, as in "days of the week" that's what it'd be. Round will give you 6, ceil...
Unfortunately not, on both counts!
I bought it when the DVD section in HMV consisted of about a choice of 20 DVD's! I remember lending it my cousin who thought it had a really strange ending, it wasn't until I explained to him that you have to flip it over to finish watching the film that he...
I've just finished up our new cms/store/basket which I wrote from scratch in php. Currently it doesn't use AJAX for adding items to the basket, but it'd be a 10 minute job to re-organise and add I think.
Did you do all the AJAX stuff yourself or use something like PEAR::AJAX? I've used...
Because everything he's likely to run is going to be 32-bit anyway, he's not going to get any advantage out of 64.
Vista 64 has issues running 32 bit themed applications.
I can't think of a single reason that you'd choose vista 64 over Vista 32 in a home/consumer environment, other than to...
Xzibit,
When do you go to Oz? I have a Qantas club pass (AKA Qantas Pub) which would allow you entry to the lounge once, I'm not going to use it as I can use the lounges anyway. You are more than welcome to it. Let me know when you head off/back and I'll let you know if it'll be in date for...
Yes. Just select the partition you want to install on.
It has an "improved" boot loader so it chains the old ntldr onto this, you'll end up with a entry called Windows Legacy (or something like that) which runs the old ntldr which takes you to your previous boot menu (if you had one) or just...
Actually the drought is forcing snakes into residential areas, there were a couple of attacks while I was out there january, one fatal one in sydney. (Eastern Brown, #2 on the worlds deadliest land snake list!)
As peter said, it's a fantasic country with lots of amazing breathtaking scenery and...
Take your laptop with you.
All long-haul flights on major carriers have free drinks. The guy I sat next to last month on the way back from oz was getting properly tanked. The FA's were just bringing him a can of VB everytime he pressed the button. He was singing beatles songs to me in the...
