    Asking for a mate...

Nor me! But (as I'm sure you are) I'd at least be aware of it and therefore do the saving and get it sorted ahead of the MOT. I'd have clocked the exhaust blow, had a look underneath and decided how and when it needed sorting out. Whilst under there, you'd probably also notice the spring and...

    Asking for a mate...

They never crop up at the same time, you end up with that fail sheet because they crop up one by one and youre either not aware of them, or ignore them. Exhaust major leak even my mum would hear and come saying "my cars broken" Rear beam bushed dont just fail, they degrade a bit as a time and...

    Asking for a mate...

I'll go the other way: If he doesnt have the skills to do it himself, nor mates with the time to help him, then the fact you can get used bits cheap is irrelevant and it's going to wind up being: New exhaust section - £60 plus an hours labour at say £40 New shocks - £80 and springs £80 Pair of...

    What V8???

In which case the auto box situation is: You can fit a manual quattro box, which is no use outwith an audi You can fit manual FWD box I believe, which is only useful for M-R layouts. No RWD box exists which will bolt on Flywheels arent common at all So once again you're back to looking for a...

In what way? It will be an auto, but the bigger issue is it looks like this:

Could you find out what flywheel and clutch he used and whether he has a CAD drawing for the adaptor plate? Thanks

    Project Lightweight, Trackday Clio 172

100kg with factory seats and glass is good going. Got to be another 50 to come there if you fit the seats and windows right

    Project Lightweight, Trackday Clio 172

I've been watching this thread for a while, keep up the good work! In terms of weight saving, I assume you have found the block beneath the RHS engine mount? For the inventors of S.I. units, the Europeans really dont seem to get that "." is a decimal point, i.e. 3.885kg is 3885g, while "," is...

    What V8???

The 540s are getting so rare now that ripping the guts out of one seems a waste.

    What V8???

There are no good options. BMW V8s are fine, but the manual boxes are V8 specific because the v8 sits upright and the I6 inclined so the bellhousing is aligned differently. Good luck finding a V8 box. Adaptors to the common and cheap 6 cyl boxes are available, but then you need a flywheel and...

    Ideal £5k toolbox

For 5k, I'd have all the tools I wanted and a nice motorbike with the change.

Hi Fi seperates on a budget

Not willy waving at all, but like I pointed out earlier, 601s can be had for the same money, are more common and vastly more appropriate for the purpose...

Hi Fi seperates on a budget

DM600 speakers are tiny and mainly used as rears, or fronts in tiny rooms. Since the OP hasnt provided ANY details on room size, shape etc it's hard to know, but I run DM601 in one room and DM 602.5 floorstanders in another and both are technically undersized. Speaker cable is generally snake...

Hi Fi seperates on a budget

I like the wharfedale diamond 9s, but I bought a pair along with some Gale 3010s and I actually preferred the gales. Apart from weighing about twice as much, they just seemed a nicer product with a more rounded sound. For a normal living room both are a little small, so I'd maybe try the 4010s

Hi Fi seperates on a budget

Buy used for a start. Depending on what your budget is, what size of room you have, what you intend doing with the system in the future, but I recently put together: Pair of B&W 601 S3 bookshelf speakers - £50 with damaged tweeters New tweeters - £50 Onkyo 608 - £125 or buy one of the audio...

    My New Chicken Chaser

Makes life a little easier, both from a reversibility point of view and also legality, since frame mods are a bit of a no no.

    My New Chicken Chaser

It seems they vary, but bare frames on many cubs are like this: This is a 50, but it was the best I could find: So people bob the tails like this: It seems some of them however came with a different frame: Which sounds like what you're describing?

    My new Cupra Derv

😂😂 FFS Yeah a pass is always a good feeling and at least it's an easy thing to fix. Nice price on the MOT too. Around here £54 seems to be the going rate unless Kwik Fit.

    My New Chicken Chaser

Love these, but there are surprisingly few proper build threads. Some questions if you please! Where are the indicators on the green bike? Whats the difference in the front forks (internal and external springs?) I assume the green one is a later bike, which is why the side covers are more...

    My new Cupra Derv

Congrats on a pass! I'd be getting new tyres on it ASAP if theyre worn that low! For all the money you spend on cars I can't believe youre razzing around on cracked bald fronts and some budget rears http://www.tyrepress.com/2017/02/auto-bild-summer-tyre-test-the-20-finalists/

The latest cheap shed, Passat PD130

They just have a feature that requires oil with a high shear resistance. All PD engines do. You can buy any PD suitable oil, but quantum from TPS is about the cheapest you'll get anyway short of buying in bulk.

    Weekend car - Accidental....

@Waitey you get two types of cage padding, the soft stuff you have is for around door openings and stuff to save you banging your knee etc as you get in (low speed impact) and the stuff @harvsurrey is referring to is a really dense hard foam which is designed to spread the load of high speed...
