Anyone running a PMS sump guard? - Increased vibration?

I found that the transmission was kissing some of the bolt heads that holds the gear selector rod protection piece. I removed one or 2 pieces of hardware in those locations. It has massively reduced the NVH but its still kissing somewhere at full load WOT that i need to investigate. Even with VT...

    Kubica M4 Ring Lap

Most Taxi laps with multiple people in are around the low 8 min mark. That’s quick to those not familiar with the track or the speed available there. However seasoned drivers there with reasonable but not outrageous equipment are around 7:30 pretty regularly. I don’t care who you are, if...

    Kubica M4 Ring Lap

Watched this the other night too. I rreally like the Apex guys and watching Robert around there was superb. Im a Porsche fanboy and we can all bang on about GT3s and the like, but the way the BMW M cars cope with the useage there is really impressive. Apart from being on a board in the...

What has happed to this Alloy Wheel?

This. Unfortunately you've next to no hope of proving whos at fault. I hate diamond cut wheels for this exact reason. Had my Mini GP wheels done and then put them in the garage till i sold it.

What has happed to this Alloy Wheel?

Those wheels are finished with whats known as a "diamond cut face, where the finish is cut back on a lathe to bare aluminium that is then lacquered. Thus giving you the high lustre finish on the face. The clear coat has been punctured and moisture has gotten in to the bare alloy causing it to go...

    My Impreza mistake

The PW TMIC seems to run out of efficiancy around the 430bhp area from what ive seen. As long as the skirt is fitting well from the bonnet scoop it will be fine. You can go FMIC but for that power i probably wouldnt bother unless you have a custom RS500 style one made up. So many of them are...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Had it off again tonight as I had a pair of Ktec/Vibratechnics mounts to fit anyway. Found no witness marks at all on the underside of the sump guard but I did find of the bolts that hold the linkage protection plate was polished on the top. It was just touching the large M12 bolt head that...

Anyone running a PMS sump guard? - Increased vibration?

Most severe on idle, pulling away at low rpm and oddly increases with low speed steering lock, but i think thats the PAS putting load on the motor to be honest. It feels like ive just put a very very stiff set of engine mounts on. Im gonna have it off again tonight and tripple check for fouling...

Anyone running a PMS sump guard? - Increased vibration?

Bloody bolt nipped up in the RivNut Rob. Then spun the insert as i tried to undo it. Grrrrrr. I'll live without it, as the other 6 million bolts should cope!

Anyone running a PMS sump guard? - Increased vibration?

All, Guessing this will mostly be the rally/race guys and chances are you wouldnt be able to tell anyway due to the nature of your vehicles use. But ive just fitted a PMS sumpguard to my road car, its not fauling the engine or transmission, yet ive a significant increase in cabin vibration...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Something I’ve been after for a while is a PMS sump guard. I’m always mindful that the car is pretty low and when pressing on in the back of my mind about catching the underside on something. Luckily one came up on eBay in good condition a few weeks back, so ordered new M8 RivNuts from Nick @...

Cheers guys. Offset on them is ET38. Rears have a 10mm axle spacer and the fronts have a 10mm slip on spacer. I may drop the front spacers to 5mm to see if it improves the steering again. If it’s negligible I’ll keep the 10mm. The front also has an additional 5mm due to the roll centre hubs.

Hahah, some people would pay handsomely for "5 whole pages of dicking you know" :D Ive only driven it back from Ruislip and into work so im really only going on first impressions. There are some country lanes near me with some quite agressive undulations, if you drive them *cough* briskly, you...

So the lunacy continues as i made the 3 hour round trip over to see Rich @ Ruislip Tyres today to get the EVOs fitted. Exceptional service as always from him taking the upmost care in everything he does. If you're over that way i can highly reccommend him, as a good tyre fitter is like golddust...
