Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Not much happening on WZD lately. However something I’ve had for a while has been a freshly powdercoated front ARB I’ve been meaning to fit. The ARB bushes are literally the very last bush on the car to replace. I had been putting them off as they have a reputation for being a royal pain in the...

    Life in these Toyo R888s?

They’re shagged but will have their date codes on the sides. R888s were still being made in 2016.

    The new tool thread

I’d be interested to see if they’re any good. I’ve never seen a decent pair of those multi purpose pliers as they all seem to collapse when you put them under load imo. The flip over bit is also cumbersome on all the ones I’ve seen. Would be cool to see a decent pair if there is such a thing.

Knipex are expensive but are imo the best you’ll buy and always sell for good money too. Teng do reasonable kit that would also be worth a look. Any idea what you’re prepared to spend?

    NorthloopCup likes a challenge, right?

Looks like a usual XOM prototype i used to build. Nothing fits, everything fouls and tooling access impossible. You simply wouldnt believe how badly even the big OEMs can do at times. "Oh well it fitted on CAD mate" Yeah nice one dickhead! #facepalm!

NIce to see someone still using some old school Graphogen and not that awful Torco s**t people seem to use these days.

    Mk2 RS prices

Theyre so cheap to buy and run as it is, i cant see how you can run them on any more of a shoestring than they already are. I mean a full suspension refresh inc dampers, bushes, mounts, lower arms, track rod ends etc can be had from RPD for circa £400! Four hundred quid!! To basically renew the...

Of course they are, theyre pretty much the best pliers you'll buy. Even more expensive for you as you live on chips and gravy :D Jokes aside, check out some of the snap on / tools pages on facebook. Always seeing decent circlip pliers come up on there for sensible money. The cheap ones are...

Such a pisser to see this, I really feel for you mate. I’ve had my days of driving the ring in the rain, never again, it’s greasier than Ice out there. Best of luck getting her straight again, at least you’re safe and well. Pride can be swallowed and panels can be straightened. Best wishes.

Well done mate. Good to test things and see how they work or not. I’m genuinely surprised it does, but if it works as hoped then that’s great.

    Engine mapping issues.

I agree 100% but yes it’s not that hard to balls it up. it just happens a fair bit quicker in a turbocharged application. Simon was also the only one to map my car bless him. But yes, get the timing and fueling wrong on any of them and you can create a pretty catastrophic situation easily...

    Engine mapping issues.

Irrelevant how much power, NA or Forced Induction. get the timing and fueling wrong and you can blow any engine up pretty easily.

    Engine mapping issues.

Basically you would need to prove there was an error in the calibration, but even then its a bloody grey area.
  26. frayz

    Engine mapping issues.

You'll find this issue is apparent across all vehicles and all tuning scenes and almost all calibrators. Almost everyone will posty what wonderful results they have but hardly anyone will put their head above the parapit and say actually the car now has driveability issues etc.

B-G Racing Steering Wheel Quick Release Adaptor - reliable for track use?

I’ve a Works Bell Rapfix2. Really high end JDM build quality and zero play at all. Nice part of this setup is the optional lockable boss cover. I leave the wheel in the car on the seat with the lock installed. I can’t ever see anyone getting it off in a hurry.
