Timing Belt & Dephaser Change - A couple of Questions

Well they’re knocking on 18-20 years now with the wear and tear to go with it. Took me nigh on 3 years to get my BG to where I wanted it. Did the belts etc first, then just worked my way through it whilst driving it. If you’re hanging on to it, just chip away at it. Some of the repairs on that...

I bought a set of Mark's plates. Still have them on my Track car. Top notch!

Timing Belt & Dephaser Change - A couple of Questions

I've had to do get 4 timing belt kits in the last 4 years. The joys of owning 3 Clio Sports. I haven't used Mick at Diamond but i've been in touch with him over some other work and he's really organised and a super friendly guy. Comes highly recommended. I think his garage is only 600 yards...

All Racing Blue 182's on the Forum...

@ajracer - Crikey, that looks very clean from the pictures. Couple of touch ups on the bumper and rear quarter? So what are your plans for that then? I've been thinking should i ditch the Turinis on my RB and go back to standard 182 alloys. I might just get a set and switch them around. Turini's...

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

I hate throwing original bolts away so thought I’d try my hand at Metal Blacking. I noticed on the airbox that there were only a couple of screws holding it together, so dug out some of the original screws that I hoard away. A bit rusty but they’ll clean up. The process was pretty easy and...

    Cleaning under the car

Try some Bilt Hamber Atom-Mac. Mix 2% with water in a sprayer. You can also add it to your jet washer mixer bottle (if applicable). I spray it on my brakes/wheels prior to jet washing. Disperses water and leaves a nice thin coating. No more rusty discs after a wash. Picture below is from the...

    Andys Racing Blue FF

Yes I understand your dilemma. Trust me I’m trying hard to throttle back on making the RB a garage queen, but my OCD kicks in from time to time. Like you I learned a lot from my first Clio Sport which is now my all season car - and I’ve discovered you can make them pretty, robust and useable at...

What he said ☝️Although I haven’t had any gearbox issues at all and I have 3 of them, one on 133k now.

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

Yes i did. Don't ask me what brand it was though, some commercial magic ingredients no doubt, as i was given it in an unmarked bottle. I won't be doing anymore for some time though 😥

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

Thanks. It could be so much better, which is what's playing with my OCD me right now 😂 But i know if i went concourse it would never be driven. So it's a sort of halfway house refresh that'll protect the car, allow me to enjoy it and stop it ending up in a scrappy.

    Andys Racing Blue FF

Love it. I've been called crazy for owning 3 Clio Sports so it's nice to see there are other lunatics in the asylum 🤪 And you're right, better to stick with what you know. Looking forward to the updates.

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

Thanks Russ. Oddly enough I’m not. I’ve had to make a few short cuts due to impending building work on the house. Most people won’t see them, but I know they’re there. Version 2 will be so much better 😂

Thanks Andy. There’s plenty I could improve on but I’d have to replace the parts with new ones which would prove too costly.

Thank you 😊 I’ve been asked this so many times and the answer is the always same - yes in a few years when I’m semi-retired 👍 I love doing them.

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

Put a shift in today, although it doesn’t seem like a lot was done, but it was a day of tidying, torquing things up, reconnecting pipes etc. Got the brakes built up, just need a bleed. Fitted stainless steel braided lines. HEL stainless steel bleed nipples. The ones you get with standard...
