Clio 172 Driveshafts. Where to buy? EBay good/bad?

I assume your referring to my pics? If so they’re rubbery, just the same as OEM

Came up lovely  Before and after shots. Ignore the ugly fat bloke in the reflections 😂

    My Black Gold (no)mod thread

😂 Re-alignment wouldn't cause them to knock if they were healthy shafts though. I'm only guessing here as that was the issue with mine. I've forgotten to torque the pinch bolt up before, that'll knock with forwards-backwards movement, pot holes and turning into a corner.

    My Black Gold (no)mod thread

As above. The RB i bought was doing exactly that (knocking when pulling away). When i stripped it all back i found 2 things which could do it. CV boot had split on drivers side shaft (wrong CV cover too which bounced off the sump knocking the clip off). Moly grease all over the sump/subframe...

What have you done to your car today ???

They do look smart with these fitted and completely changes the way the car feels on the road. Having said that when i had one on mine, in place of the bus steering wheel, it suddenly dawned on me that i'm in a 17 year old French car, that's had more owners than lassie, with little to no...

    2005 RB 182 Cup

It’s just insane. I know from experience the amount of work, commitment and the unlimited amount of hours needed to do a project like this. And this is on another level to what I’m doing. It’s why it’s so bloody brilliant. I suspect you’re keeping the Blue theme underneath the arches Tom but...

Clio 172 Driveshafts. Where to buy? EBay good/bad?

I just bought 2 Shaftec ones for my 182 resto. Can't fault them tbh. Just genuine Renault one's that have been properly restored. I paid £100 each for them after exchanging old ones. Bought them off DMFX in Darlington. I'm sure they cater for 172 versions.

Hmmm..that's really cool. I was going to buy a new genuine system for mine - around £800 at the time - but heard how rusty they get in such a short space of time. Plumbed for a PMS system instead.

    Winter 20/21 dirty car thread.

Minging! In for a cold jet wash to try and keep the reg number visible, hold back the build up of grime and stop some plonker writing "wash me" on it. It pretty much stays like this for the whole winter as i daren't touch the paintwork. Then it gets a proper clean at the start of spring.

    Clio 182 Turbo

Aye, the cars that would’ve been scrapped - pre covid - are now selling for upwards of a grand. Still, like everybody else who’s sold up during the new car shortage, you’ve struck the jackpot. Sadly there’s no such thing as a bargain right now. Mad times indeed.

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

Not many mid-week updates other than I’ve removed the headlights and am going to have a go at cleaning them up. What could possibly go wrong 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 Then gave the front slam panel a clean up, some corrosion treatment and a lick of paint. There’s never enough paint on them anyway. Not the...

    My Black Gold (no)mod thread

Probably an element of truth in that Mark. As an owner of both BG and RB Clio Sports, i do think the RB is somewhat 'special'.

    My Black Gold (no)mod thread

My BG was like this. Constantly causing me intermittent problems, non starting, breaking down. Probably the real reason the previous owner sold it. As i wasn't using it regularly enough I just used to put up with it, almost sold it once out of frustration. Finally committed myself to it...

Not going to lie, I once put my wiper arms back on without lining that little tab up. Not sure which scratch was bigger, the one on the screen from the wiper or the one on my head after wondering what the hell i’d done wrong 😑

That dreaded moment when you look down and find a few find parts left over that you have no idea where they came from 😂 Luckily i use Partsouq which is great for finding part numbers for your car. And both items had part numbers so i was able to pop those into the search and get a nice...

    Our new ph1 172

Ah cool. I used to own one but got rid of it after 6 months as it was a bit OTT for road use - i'm clocking on now - and it couldn't hold a candle to my Clio Sport 182 on most of the UK circuits. Decent Ring machine though on those long straights where the Clio is just pants 😂 Horses for...

    “Charlotte” The 182 FF

Can’t get drivers side wishbones anymore, so a nice bit of Clio treasure you’ve got there 😊 I’ve got Strongflex (cheaper than Powerflex but just as good) in the BG daily as well as inner/outer ARB bushes but am sticking with OEM bushes on the RB. The steering on the BG is very sharp compared to...

Restoring Little Bluey - my 182 FF ClioSport in Racing Blue

Rained off this morning but by lunch it had cleared up enough for me to start bolting the engine down. A few detail shots of the upper gearbox mount, battery tray, upper inlet and fuel guard. Got everything torqued up so turned my attention to the suspension. Picked up a couple of Shaftec...
