Jason Dawes of the Sunday Times (September issue) asks ”Are drivers being held to ransom by the warranty system?”
Car servicing seems to be one of those areas of commerce, like plumbing and wedding catering, where the normal rules of economics cease to apply. In the worst cases...
Nationwide Autocentre welcomes changes to servicing rules
Nationwide Autocentre says it welcomes the improvements to Block Exemption which will allow new car owners to have their vehicles serviced by an independent garage without affecting the warranty.
Until now, under strict EU...
I have taken a couple of pics from the mag.

The scrunched up net shower thingy is only for cleaning off the headlights NOT THE PAINTWORK. The original question was about the bugs on the headlights NOT the body!!
Wrap some cling film over them and when it is a bit mucky, just throw it away and put on some fresh film! I use this method along the tops of my tall kitchen cupboards and it saves a lot of cleaning!
Another thing that should shift them is the scrunched up net looking thingy that you use in...
It is now official that from today 1st October, we can all take our BRAND NEW cars to the good independent garages for service work, repairs etc without the warranty being affected in any way. From now on I think that main dealers will perhaps think about reducing some of their service costs...
I used to have them on my Pug with the Pug logo on and I often had them stolen. I bought two spare sets and after losing those in time, I gave up and went back to the plastic ones and nobody bothered with those. Maybe you are better keeping the metal caps for show and shine days and Club meets.
Apparently MER has is mildly abrasive and polishes at the same time. It can also be used as a shampoo (so I have heard - I dont use it but I know some who do).
Quote: "It Feels like the car dealers "bully" you into "overpriced" charges just to keep the warranty in place when other "non dealer" garages who can be just as good and better dont charge over the hill prices!"
Exactly!! The government is trying to stamp out all this nonsense about main...
A friend of mine had to wait ages for new wheels because apparently the whole of Italy closes down in September and he had to wait until they were back from hols!! He tried loads of other places who had the same story, especially as they were 18" in size and also the manufacturer had said that...
Are the K-Tec rear smoked lights for the 172 the same as the Halfords ones? Someone said that the Halfords ones are cheaper than the K-Tec ones and are supposed to be exactly the same!
Go to your Renault dealer and get the correct shade of touch-up paint and touch up the chip up a tiny amount at a time with a cocktail stick instead of the brush which is supplied, because that will ensure that you fill in the chipped area gradually.
Mine comes on sometimes after I have moved the front passenger seat. If you wiggle the wires underneath, or slide the seat a wee bit, the lights will go out. I think the correct thing to do is to take the car into the dealer for them to fasten the loose wires securely.
Which are £200+? K-Tec ones? I asked David the other day and he said that theirs are £151 + VAT to members here (about £177)
Would you please post a pic of yours?
Thanks
Ask at a good local independent as they can usually get generic ones which are made by the same company as the branded ones, for half the cost - or less.
You are kidding of course! Surely you are talking about those horrid slidy Contis!! The Toyos are superb in the wet and dry, not that we have had any wet in which to test them since January!
I would say go for a 172 but as she has had an MGF, then a 172 would be too big a jump for her, so I suggest that she goes for the intermediate Pug 206 GTi first, then later on she can progress to a cool 172 - in black, of course!
;)
Try turning off the air con for while, as this uses up power and loads of extra fuel too. It is best not to, but if you turn the temp down, it has to work very much harder and also uses up loads more fuel.
If you dont want to remove the bumpers, why dont you use masking tape and newspaper, cover quite a large area of the car which might otherwise get overspray, with the paper, plus cover the immediate area around the strips, and make sure that you get off any polish/back-to-black etc prior to...
