    Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Erm. Another hour and a half into it - I'm still awaiting for the 'wow' moment to arrive. I despise the insta-spawn of the enemy. For three times on the trot, I wiped out three troops of inbound green knobheads, only to venture a little too far on the bit of map I was on - and that became the...

    Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

I was a bit too eager in the sale. I bought it when it was down to £24.99 (I think) and then the following bloody day, it dropped to £17.99 - typical! I'll probably have another bash on it later today when I'm back home. D.

    Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Put three hours into on the PC this afternoon. Early impressions are very good, though as with the vast majority of 3rd-person perspective games, the camera angle can become infuriating at times. The control input I find to be a little haphazard too. It's one of them that neither works...

    Leeshez - multi-story car-park, Bury

Spotted the LAS-mobile in a much, much cleaner state than mine in Bury, this afternoon. D.

    Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Lol - standard Cookie Issue, iirc. Just got this on the Steam sale - not a huge saving that some of them can be, but 25% off is better than nothing. D.

The Power PC Thread [f*ck off consoles]

I bet those SSDs alone set you back a tidy penny!

Windows 8, do you get used to it?

Cheers! So far, it's not bugged me as much as it did before. I'm all for change, but previously I saw hardly any benefit for that change over Windows 7. I'll see how I persevere with it! D.

    PS4 PSN ID List

Made this a sticky - will be useful to have up near the top... D.

    Insurance recommendation

Greenlight definitely had the edge when I had both the 182 and Evo insured. I'm still insured with them just for the Clio now as the Evo is sold. Neil is very helpful and gets back to you quickly with any questions. D.

    The beast of Turin, trailer

Watched this yesterday myself - brilliant! Imagine the size of balls needed to physically race that back in the day?! D.

Windows 8, do you get used to it?

Got Win 8.1 finally installed at the weekend. What tricks & tips are people using on a daily basis? I would like to get some popular keyboard short-cuts memorised - along with shifting that pointless start menu. I'm using a traditional monitor - not a touch screen, thanks. ;) D.

[Dec 4, 2014] NW Central - Monthly Bury Pub Meet (Bury)

Sounds good - but it depends what's on with work for me. I might be at one end of the country or the other? :) D.

    outside temperature sensor faulty

Tbf, I've just got used to mine being out. It's not as crazy as yours, but a mildly cold day can easily see -2C/-3C appearing on the dash. It's been like that since new - and never really bothered me. D.

Windows 8, do you get used to it?

Windows 8 with me is like eating olives. No matter how many times I go back to them - thinking I'll like them, they just end up tasting rank! ;) In all seriousness though - I keep saying I'll use Windows 8 more. But every time I come back to a reformat at home, Windows 7 automatically wins. The...

    PS3 driving game

As Matt says, GT6 is certainly good enough for you to gain track knowledge and what sections of track are coming up. Personally, I've spent the most amount of time on the 'Ring within Race '07 on the PC - but GT6 is pretty faithful to it also. D.

So I messed up and I now I have loads of adverts...

^^^ - Malwarebytes is definitely a good place to start. It resolved all the issues we had with one users' laptop here. D.

    Black E92 335i

Love the shape on these - BMW got the coupe (especially the top end with twin pipes) just spot on right. I think silver for some reason works especially well on them. Nice purchase :)

How do I 'reboot' my pc but keep all my Windows updates ?

More worringly - you're still using Vista!

Visual Studio 2013 for free. Kinda.....

http://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/products/visual-studio-community-vs I don't use it myself, but I know a few people out there who do. Might be of use to some? D.

    Moving from Android to iOS

I've never owned an Android based phone and was vehemently anti-Apple for a long time. I'd had Nokias for over twelve years before making the switch to a 3GS and never really looked back. I'm on a 5 now and will probably consider a 7 once those finally arrive. Tbh, it's the whole iOS way of...

    Melted spark plug!! Causes?

Exactly. There's a spark plug tip knocking about somewhere - or by some bloody good luck, it cleared the exhaust valves and got spat out? Are those injectors new? D.

The Next Few Weeks (Next Gen Games)

Same here m8. Played all three from beginning to end. I did think ME2 was slightly better than ME3 - but the latter was still a cracking game. Definitely looking forward to ME4. D.

How to shatter a locking wheel nut?

I agree - if they want them, those alloys will be gone. One of the reasons why I would never spend silly amounts of money on alloys. At best, locking wheel-nuts are a mere deterrent. D.

Macbook Pro ram - can you still upgrade it yourself?

Lol - I guess I shouldn't be. Just seems even more of an insult when I upgraded an iMac's memory from 4 to 8GB, only yesterday. Yet on other areas of their product range - you can't upgrade? Petty. Really petty.

    Upgrading Motherboard

Is the external drive caddy itself USB3.0 compliant too? I'm guessing it will be with a drive of that size in it? D.

Call Of Duty ~ Advanced Warfare

That's a clever feature. But are the loading times actually that long? I will probably get this at some point - I've always been a sucker for the COD campaigns..... D.

    Upgrading Motherboard

That should be fine then. I thought you specifically needed 3.0 by the sounds out it (which is brilliant if you get compatible devices, BTW). Try using 32GB and 64GB USB3.0 pen drives on a regular basis. You'll be horrified at how slow USB2.0 is after that! D.

    BMW M3 CSL Wrapping

Protecting the paint leads on the £million question. Would you respray the paint first (making it immaculate) - then wrap the car afterwards?? I guess if money was no object, we'd all do that. :) D.
  29. Darren S

    Upgrading Motherboard

That won't work. Well, it will - but you'll only have USB2.0 support coming out the end of that cable, if your mobo doesn't natively support USB3.0. The cheapest option is to buy a USB3.0 PCIe card - and if you need it to run around the front, nab a USB3.0 extension lead. Something like...

    New Car Purchase.......TVR

Excellent, balls-out purchase. Interesting that such old school technology mixed with stunning looks is a recipe for increased value. Even more so with a car that is deemed to 'potentially' have huge bills. On paper - people would be mad to go for something like this. Yet it's what the vast...
