That is because the pictured grille is primed and unmeshed. Wait till you see mine in the Raider blue.

Looks like the reg should be PEN1S The open drivers door looks a bit close to the wall.

Your mate would have been better using a cocktail stick or a sliver of thin card to work a tiny bit of paint in at a time rather that the thick brush which comes with the paint and blobs it on.
