I recently sold a 205 GTI and while it was up for sale someone from IOM called me too..
However I sold it before he could arrange to come view it......
I've had both, and think that the GTI-6 is better than the 172 in the twisty's, but my 172 feels quicker than what my GTI-6 did (well above 5000rpm anyway).
I prefer the more modern feel of the 172, it's certainly put together better than my GTI-6...oh and so far every thing works in the 172 -...
I'm sure I've seen some black 1*2's with bright coloured wheels, but can't find the photo's any more...
Anthracite does look good on back but these are my track wheels so was thinking of something bright/contrasting
just got some 15" OZ F1 to use on my 172 for track. Going to paint them soon, just want some ideas of different colours that people have used on a black cars other than silver....
I get roughly 30-35mpg, all town driving and with foot down...
I had a massive excess to bring the insurance down on my GT5 when I was 21 (didn't crash it so I saved £500)....

saw a blue 1*2 cup this morning in Warmsworth, Doncaster with a EVO and a CS sticker in the back window.
Looked like something was hanging down under the front of the car, must be someone on here???

I used DENTMAN Direct Ltd 07830 197769, he's a local (Doncaster) one man outfit and did a very good job on two of my cars.
He charged £60 each time he came out...
If you do have him to do some work, tell him James at Warmsworth (306 GTI-6 and BMW X3) recommended him as I need some more work...
it only happened when the car was kept in the garage (which was very close to the sea)...it's got to be something to do with the sea air as it's never happened before and hasn't since (touch wood)....
no just me....It's happened to me years ago with another car, never had any problems until I went to the coast. Then struggle like hell to get it started.....
can someone check this for me...

just got back from Cornwall and while we were there my PH2 172 struggled to start when left stood overnight. It was parked in a garage about 50 meters from the sea.
It took about 10-15 mins of cranking the engine before the it finally started. Never had the problem at home (Doncaster). The...
drove my PH2 172 the other day for the first time the other day with shorts on and noticed a cold draught coming from under the drivers side dashboard.. It must be coming from the outside because the flow of air from the draught changed when another car passed me.

I generally work on my cars loosing 1k a year so anything more than that and I get upset...
Surely the price of the older ones (like mine ;)) should start to level out soon and stay pretty much as they are and only alter depending on condition mileage etc...
yep I recently got a very clean 52 plate 172 with FSH + 65k on for £2800... can't beat it.
I can't see good ones dropping below £2.5k for a while though...
Hi recently got myself a black 172 which looks like it's seem a lot of car washes in it's time..
It's got quite a few swirl marks in the paint, so I'm looking for a recommendation for someone in the South Yorkshire area to have a go with it...
was looking into getting some new plates made for my ph2 172, but wondered what the pressed metal euro plates looked like on a 172/182.....
I know they're not legal but would like to see some piccy's....
