It was about the same, maybe slighty quicker ( I think it's had some engine work done) I would like to have a play with 'said' starlet now, as my clio is now completely stripped out, no engine mods as such.
The trophy would temp me also. Depends what you're after though. The Fabia IMO is so easy to drive compared to the 1*2 and does return higher MPG.
I'll be following this thread, as I do like trophies.
I would feel a lot safer in the Clio. I often see a black one around my way, it goes well in a straight line, but can't keep up with me in the twistys.
Mine has quite a few dents/ dings that's to be expected on a 9 year old car that's done 137k though. Sometimes I think about getting them removed, and giving the front end a respray, but cannot ever see that happening TBH.

A pair of driveshafts.
Alternator
Cambelt/ aux belt (due another cambelt change soonish)
Gearbox had a recon at 130k. Clutch was also changed, but was still spot on.
1 wheel bearing
2 Batteries
I think that's it. IIRC it cost a fair bit between 72-80k in...
