Had hammerite on the clio for over 3 years... never had an issue...
Its only until mid November anyway, and don't forget its only being driven once (at Oulton), then it everything's going to be shot-blasted and powder coated anyway!
Another bit of an update - had a delivery of polybushes the other day including - Rear Beam Mounts, Rear Trailing Arm Bushes, Diff Mount and Front M3 Wishbone Bushes. Decided to rip the whole rear setup off in one go and start stripping it down..
I burned the bush out of my LSD ready...
Well I thought the S15 lump I got had a duel mass fly on it... its a huge thing but its actually looks like a single machined piece when in your hands, nothing else to it like a normal DMF. No springs or plates etc, I should have got some pics of it really.
Unsure if it needs it but I've 100%...
Ahhh nope. Box came with a Goodridge line attached directly to the slave cylinder. The clutch on the E30 was tee'd off the master cylinder reservoir, but I've changed that so the clutch has its own now. When I've got it back in the car I need to see if the E30 cylinder on the pedal end pushes...
Yeah I remember seeing his write up about it actually!
Lol - only bit of 'real' rust I've found was under the windscreen seal after I took the glass out, naff all anywhere else ;)
FMIC - Already got one and its one (530mmx240mmx69mm) of the next jobs to mount it really. Managed to find one...
Its probably Theo - thats the only 'properly' done one I've found in the UK really. Quite a common conversion in Australia/New Zealand, only seen one other LHD one too in Canada. Just running stock S15 boost for now, as I've got Oulton Park on the 4th November. Planned to fully strip it down...
Cheers for the comments everyone. The S14 flywheel turned up this morning so I will probably pull the engine out this evening and fit it before dropping it back in to plumb the clutch in - not much else to sort before I can get the engine running then :)
I didn't get one with the engine but I had a feeling one my fit with a bit of 'adjustment', let me know if you come across it..
Cracked the back casing on the LSD earlier removing the old bush to replace with a poly, so I need to source a new back plate now sigh.
MPH times were on the piss all day, everyone had different MPHs on the sheet than what came up on the display... Especially with jamies first two runs being 100.74MPH exactly which I find hard to believe lol.
Cheers - I'l drop you an email tomorrow regarding those bits as I will be needing them this week :)
Il have to have a look, not in any rush just yet. Its got to be an S and drop height wise
Trailiered, I wouldn't have bought this one if I wanted it on the road, as its got no V5 and never...
Few bits from the other day. E30 Prop (Front Section) vs S14 Prop (Front Section)..
Chopped them up so they could be sleeved, then adjusted to length under the car and bolted a new center bearing up to be sure of the length..
Tacked it under the car then removed it to put a bit more weld...
As mentioned earlier I didn't want to go with a BMW engine and a home brew turbo conversion. I knew the SR20DET had been done before but not much, nothing was really documented anywhere and only a few very vague project threads. The info wasn't really there but it didn't put me off as I wanted...
Well, thought I would but a bit of a thread up about the new project considering some members seem interested/keep asking. Quite a number of you saw my previous car on here (http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?364502-Mk1-F4R-172-d-Track-Car-Project-Year-3-Engine-and-Chassis-Rebuild)...
Yeah Z3 is usually the choice of most, although finding a LHD Z3 rack in the UK would be a task in itself. I'm thinking of moving the column and using a rack from a different car at the moment.
I've seen that on trackaction before, usually hang around on there, know Steve H from doing track...
Yeah ive seen bits and bobs - not too much detailed info about though so its a bit of make it up as you go along too. Ive sacked ALL the BMW wiring off and will be starting from scratch with the bare necessities so I know exactly what is what!
You are correct, the standard column linkage gives about 2" clearance, I need over 3" for the downpipe. The engine rubber has been mounted higher on the drivers side to give me room for an E36/E46 rack where the pinion is further over, eliminating one of the UJ's from the steering linkage. Its...
Not just yet!
Although here are a few more pics for anyone interested. Engine and gearbox mounts are finished and its sat under its own weight on Land Rover V8 rubbers :) Very solid!
You'd have to chop it where it goes over the subframe to make it fit, angling the pipes off in a different direction to follow the Mk1 tunnel. Hardly worth the effort for a butchered manifold...
RB26 is the only one worth doing really, but its massive work considering there are only a few 'proper' ones ever been done. See what comes of it in the future....
