If anyone wants a recommendation for a decent non-franchised garage locally (I've been there with Sunwin - the 182 was in 5 times in it's first 800 miles, for the same fault!), I can highly recommend Wood Lane Garage in Horsley Woodhouse (http://www.woodlanegarage.com) - it's owned by a close...
Hello All - good to hear of so many local folks!
I'm in Belper, but the 182 (black gold, with B2 private plate) might have been seen around Heanor way, as the missus worked in Langley Mill
until a week or so ago...
I think warine_warrior is also heanor way with a black 172 - so that might be...
Again - it can be down to more subtle things - they may have the same "standard" credentials (such as ACEA A4), but the manufacturer specific approvals may be very different (and this is where a lot of cost and effort is involved in producing a fluid to meet the more stringent OEM standards) -...
Mobil 1 is damn good stuff - I've just put some in the 182 at it's 24K service.
I am a chemist, developing oils for a living, and have seen many commercial oils compared in some severe engine testing. Seeing the difference between a good and a poor oil in the same engine test really does show...
I've got a lowepro slingshot 200, which fits the D40x with kit lens, 50mm and 70-300, with plent of room to grow with new gear...
Very comfy to wear too...
Sounds a similar spec to mine - I've got the original 998 A+, but with a Stage 1 kit, stage 3 head, fast road/rally cam (all from minisport) and is fed through a single 1 3/4 HIF44 SU - it sounds great when it's running (which hopefully it will be again by the end of the week!). Funny you should...
Lovely looking Elf, and love the way you've sympathetically modded it with some nice period touches... Very nice!
Out of interest, what sort of spec is it mechanically - fairly standard? (actually, is that an RC40-type exhaust I see poking out the back - so I guess you've got a stage 1 kit at...
I've been having the same problem with a cheap 1Gb card that I bought to go in a frame... wouldn't even format properly in the PC, so in the end, I stuck it into the D40x, and hit format - which appeared to work...
I don't think I'd trust it for much now though... Having caused problems once, I...
I think you flashed me as I was coming away from Welford Rd yesterday as well - remembered the first part of your plate...
I was in the black 182 coming out of town... Wasn't very awake, or cheerful after Tigers loosing:dapprove: - so didn't flash back until after you'd gone past...
Tidy...
I got a half day at the Land Rover Experience thrown in when I swapped the LCR for the Landy - am going down to Rockingham castle next weekend to play in the mud in a Range Rover...
Looks like a very impressive set-up (you choose which Land Rover you want and then are joined by an instructor...
It's got to be the Bose one... just a little hint - if you know anyone that's off to the US, talk them into bringing one back for you - they're (IIRC) £299 here, but $299 in the states - Half price bargain time....
Re: 182 Suspension Failure and Warranty Issues
this isn't the wonderful Sunwin is it? Every experience that I've had with them has been lacking. If you want better service, take it down to Burton - they're much more helpful...
According to the website here: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/Mot/DG_4022112
When your vehicle needs testing If a vehicle is registered with no prior use on the road, the MOT will be required three years after the date of registration. For...
You should get the full 3 years as long as it's an EU car (motorpoint used to bring some in from Cyprus, which only got 2 years, being non-EU) - only difference is that it runs from date of manufacture, not registration... Our 182 was from motorpoint, and has just gone out of warranty - but have...
Can't resist showing mine off - haven't moved mine to the Landy yet, but here's how they looked before I swapped.... Quite happy with how the pair of them go together...
Don't know about putting the 225 lump in a golf, but my LCR (or my bro's 225 TT) will pull a couple of lengths in a comparison to the 182 - so hardly leaving it standing...
The main reason I took mine in was as a precaution - if it failed on me, and I hadn't taken it in to be checked, would the insurance company use it as a means to worm their way out of paying up.... probably worth dropping in just to be sure IMO...
I was chatting to the folks at Renault in Burton the other day (I'm getting tempted to swap the LCR) - and they can do a 197 for around £14.5K till the end of the month... At that price, I'd go to renault rather than get an import and have to add an alarm etc... (and I bought the 182 from...
That isn't good - but I've had some variable experience with dealers too - see this thread for my tale... http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=232994.
Managed to get both headlight washers and a driveshaft done on mine today and it's only got 2 months of it's warranty left... I'd try...
Just to provide an update on this - firstly a big thanks to Marby for the recommendation!
It's been into Burton today (see what you mean about the kerb too!) to get the CV boot looked at and also leaky headlight washers. It was booked in, and a courtesy car sorted without any fuss, and was...
As above, when you've got the headlights on pull and hold to wash your windscreen - a short pull just washes the screen, a longer pull washes the lights too....
mine's in today for some other stuff (CV boot and headlight washers), so they're checking it while it's there.
Got a 1.4 modus in the meantime - my word, now that really is a terrible car to drive!!!
Just spoken to Burton - totally different attitude to Derby.
They've booked it in, and offered me a courtesy car without any prompting (rather than the usual, you can have one... in a month's time).
Thanks for the recommendation - I certainly know who I'll be using in the future (assuming the...
Well - just phoned Derby to try and get it booked in, to get the response that they won't do it under warranty as it's an adjustment of a service item!!! Unbelievable.
Off to ring Burton now...
