I’ve done it again.... ordered another pre-built. It’s an Acer with a much better spec than the Alienware but only a little bit more expensive. Not sure I can cope with the “teenage gamer” look of the thing, but I can always hide it 😂 i7-10700K, 3080, decent sized case with plenty of big fans...

Alienware R10 is on it's way back to Dell, I returned it. Honestly in a lot of ways it's a really nice bit of kit, case is really easy to work on etc, but bloody hell the noise levels are bad and it's all down to them using a chassis which will never cope with the thermal load without ramping...

Quite a bit, unfortunately, 2560x1440 is not far off double the number of pixels that the card has to push. It does depend where the bottleneck is in your setup though, if you're CPU-bound rather than GPU bound then the difference will likely be much smaller. This covers it all pretty well...

If you can snag a FE card direct from NVIDIA that would likely be your only way, unless there are some unusually ethical vendors out there :D

Looks like the going rate for all the 30* cards bar the 3090 is basically 2x MSRP on eBay at the moment. I feel sorry for anyone who's card goes bad at the moment, you basically either live with a dead PC, put some ancient card in there which is still at an inflated price or take it up the ass...

Yep, what he said. But TBH I wouldn’t be buying any graphics card at all at the moment unless I absolutely had to, the prices are completely insane. Thanks miners.... Actually the 1080 is still not that expensive as it‘s not much good for mining these days, the Ti is still half decent for it...

Without wanting to be an arse about it, it really depends in what game. 3 1080p monitors is about six million pixels, a 1440p ultrawide is about five million pixels and a 4k display is about 8 million pixels. My GTX 1080 is just fine at 1440p and 60fps in most games up to a couple of years...

Having used it for a couple of days, if you work for a long time at your desk I'd highly recommend getting a sit/stand desk. I feel much better for spending more time standing. Probably the wrong thread for it, but there you go :ROFLMAO:

Anyone have any experience of decent steering wheel mounts/frames? I’ve had the Logitech G29/920 wheel and pedal set sat around for ages and want to actually use the damn things 😂 Ideally something foldable, are the GT Omega ones still the go-to brand for this stuff?

I nearly just bought a 3090 FE. I have no idea why, they were back in stock and selling at NVIDIA RRP. I don’t need one, even a 3080 would be overkill. I must be getting old, since I resisted.

My OH used to have a 1.6 GT, they're a nice drive. Nothing like an RS in terms of driver focus, but to be honest that makes it a better daily driver. Plenty of fun to be had with that chassis and limited power, you really can drive it like you stole it without getting into (too much) trouble.

Oh god yeah, the errors in the buyers guides and reviews, plus the total lack of proofreading.... it's embarrassing. Just stinks of the whole thing being run on a shoestring to pull in the advertising $$$

For 1440p gaming, 100% unless you really want to use the RTX stuff. Apparently it's less clear cut at 4k. It's moot point because you can't buy any of them anyway. :ROFLMAO:
