Well my Beetle does that when I spin the back wheels off the line! Most cars make a bloody racket of some sort if you cane them. Thats why I dont do wheelspins in the Clio...
That sounds like a tidy car but due for a load of stuff to go wrong at 72k, cambelt, gearbox, clutch, power steering pump etc, all these things start to give up once you get past 72k if you havent replaced them already. Still at least the head must be in good condition.
£5k-£6k isnt...
Its not your imagination Ben. Ive got timing tickets from York that prove that running 15s will give you better times all through the run, as soon as youre rolling. The only point where they were crap (on my Clio) was off the line as they are too easy to spin up, 18s gave a much better launch...
220bhp from a normally aspirated 2.1 on standard induction sounds optimistic...last time I looked the 2.1 pistons were £600 for a set as well! When you say big valve modified head what are we talking about here?
As you probably noticed Ive been doing a lot of research into this sort of thing...
Well obviously not a waste of time for 1/4 miling but for normal road use its excessive and theres the cost of nitrous oxide at those kind of jettings which would be a real killler - compare that with compressed air which is free!
I think you said it all there Ben. 200 bhp I reckon is perfect in a Clio, its all there in the midrange to blow everything away, then once you get up in the revs you get your peak hp. The power/torque curves for the BB turbo job show something like 155bhp (calculated flywheel not at wheels) at...
yeah I know what you mean the Haynes is a bit stupid like that. The factory jacking points are those cutout slots under the sills. But with a trolley jack I tend to jack it under the joint where the trailing arm comes from at the end of the torsion bar. Not much good if youre adjusting it...
lol Alex 100k my arse...It says 45k on the clock and in reality I suspect its more like around 80,000 by now. But this is a Clio that until recently had had *every* single part replaced by me in the three years Ive owned it, apart from the bottom end and the petrol tank. Whatever has needed...
Well I must admit I fast forwarded through page 1 to 5 of this thread so I might have missed a few insults being thrown around! IMHO theres no way you can say the VTS is a bad car, its a little cracker, but at the end of the day if a standard 172 and a VTS were driven by the same driver, the 172...

That manifold is a masterpiece, Im surprised you can have it on your Clio, if that was mine Id leave it on my mantelpiece to show people when they came round! Anyway, that should be no problem to wrap so go for it then spray it with silver high temp paint once youre done. Thermo-tec can do the...
Either get a bent MOT certificate or put the cat on for the test. There are no disadvantages to getting rid of the cat, performance wise. It will pop a bit more though. It will make absolutely no difference to the air/fuel ratio whatsoever. The cat is after the lamda sensor so there is no way...
hehe yeah even the minimum 2.0 rebuild Id want to do looks like being at least £1500. So its onto Plan B now - which is gonna cost a hell of a lot more!
