Ive got some pictures step by step from when I fitted mine, Il pop a post in the guides section tomorrow for anyone in the future if they need to confirm on how they go together.
Fitment was shite on mine with the bulkhead bar, damn connector on the Mk1 clocks sticks out about 4 inches for the speedo cable! Flush backing of the 172 is ideal ;)
And yeah but it took alot longer to get the MPG/R19 working than it did to connect one wire on the 172 clocks lol!
:(
I doubt an air filter will drop it that much, Chris had a cheap pipercross one on his when it ran..
Ive got a feeling timing for it to be that low even though you said it was ok!
Have a search and see if you can find the thread on here where a lad did the same and they did acctually get sucked down the throttle body and into the engine, was a good read.
I tried an electric impact gun on mine once, wouldnt even touch it. Got an air powered one onto it and it came off in seconds.
No way you can just temporarily bolt the caliper back on and press the brakes?
Mines was a Ph2, although ive put Ph1 bits on it lol.
-Ph1 have the thin sidestrips, small wingmirrors and tailgate badges on the bootstrip.
-Ph2 have the fat sidestrips with the model badge in them, bigger wingmirrors, different rear lights and the tailgate badges on the bootlid itself
-Ph3...
Re: F**K F**K F**K Heads gone!Valve timing unit help needed.
Dephaser has gone up in price on 1st Jan and even further with the VAT increase :dapprove:
Re: F**K F**K F**K Heads gone!Valve timing unit help needed.
I'm guessing they mean the timing tools to re-time the cambelt, as they are around that price.
Doubt Il be going this year, complete waste of time going last year, especially in mine, nothings changed in the 3 times ive been!
Id rather spend the money in fuel/entry/hotel on a trackday TBF.
Apparently so, I found the same when I was looking for one a while back.
Are you a member on Clio16Valver? Im sure someone over there will have a good working condition one if you post up in the wanted section.
I tried to get a video of mine doing it on the way home last night, but im pretty much sure its something gearbox/flywheel/clutch related (i.e. just the nature of them).
Il try and get a little clip later, to see if its the same thing as yours lol
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Ah cool, thanks for the advice.
So would I be right in saying, if you were moving at the same speed - A fast wire speed would result in a 'tall/high' weld, and a slower wire speed a 'flatter' weld?
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Might try slowing the feed down then. When I was trying joining two pieces of scrap CDS on the lowest setting, with about 50% wire speed, it was kind of 'blowing' through the CDS (1.6mm wall), kind of as if there was too many amps...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
After tidying up the welds where the old lower door bar used to be a few days ago, I decided to set about getting the two new ones level and tacked into place.
Once I got them spot on angle wise, and tacked into place all was good. Then thought f*ck it and...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Well as you can see this one is only a 130amp'er too!
Replaced the liner and put the fresh wire in not so long ago, made a massive difference to the smoothness of the feed, just spent a few hours playing around...far easier to get it to do what you want...
