After seeing how OMP cages are in Mk1s and Mk2s, I wouldn't recommend them.
The lengths Ben_p had to go to with his mounts for it in the Mk2, and Whiteley/dave17 with Mk1s were just silly, simply because the ones they supply are w*nk. Its so much more effort to make the mounts for it look even...
Back in 2008 when I was starting to think about the conversion, I always used to speak to Matteh on here...although now its a 'popular' conversion there are threads coming up over there all the time.
Its just like here, if people could learn to use the search button, they would see the answer...
Standard engine. Its plenty in a 810kg shell, plus I cant justify stupid money on engine mods/tuning, especially the F4R. Id rather put it into my next project at the end of the 2010.
I could write a complete guide if I could be bothered, its already partially done. But there is no motivation...
Too bad Clio16Valver is full of misguided information on the conversion itself these days, along with 172 widetrack too acctually. So many people who think they know what they are on about, but dont :dapprove:
Ive given up replying to the 172 conversion related threads as they just go round in...
Lot of reading and research required...takes time.
201 Pages of Project - http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=364502
or Every Update Seperated - http://www.f0xy.net/hybrid/
Everything you need to know is on both.
Wiring = Easy, especially when my wiring diagram/guide is used! Its worked for a good few people now... not sure whos still got a copy though.
172 Box can be used (Although the chassis mount has to be modified), but Mk1 (Valver or Williams) box is easier as the mount bolts straight up.
Im going to be stripping it all down shortly anyways so I will take note, may aswell do some pics too for future reference no doubt someone will ask the same question sometime!
No idea on values...but to give you an idea.... My top mounts were set to MAXIMUM camber, and the shocks (FK Highsport/Slotted Holes) were set to MINIMUM, and it had this much (quite a lot!)...
I tried to set the shocks to MAXIMUM too, but it wouldnt go all the way as the wheel was touching...
Not a bad price, but it is a bit expensive, even if it is low milage...
I picked mine up for £650, one previous owner and in 100% original condition... A mate picked a Naples one up for a tiny bit more in similar condition with Williams wheels etc. The bargins are out there if you know what to...
Lol yeah, just found the thread (http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=215222) when he sold it way back in March 2007. He sourced the 172 kit then sold it shortly after, probably why the paint was different as he never had them done!
A decent cup for 2k? Id love to find one of those... 3.5k -to- 4k+ for a decent one from the ones ive seen and looked at. So 4k + 4k + fitting, 8.5k?
He may drive it and 'want' it, but if he went and drove a really fast car (i.e. not a S/C cup) for around 8.5k he would most probably want that...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
They do post, dependant on weight. It would have been £30 to post that order (49kg)...but a lower quantity would be less to post at a guess. Il PM you the details now!
Oh also, they have branches all over the country. Might be one near you!
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Just had some fun picking up 30 meters of 45mm tube (Cold Drawn Seamless), comes in 6 meter runs, cut them in half and still struggled to get them back in a five door focus...
And no, im not using the whole 30m myself lol! Can hopefully crack on now...
