I think I prefer the hatch overall, but it's a car very high on my radar. Really want to try one. Like you say, pick one up with plenty of warranty left for low 20s and it's a very compelling package.

Lovely build this, do like a track spec E36. Think I'd have to add some kind of dash though, looks a naked without.

Yeah it can pick up a bit of dust, but I just vacuum it with a brush attachment and it seems to work ok.

Did you drive the others you mentioned? RS or Civic? Would be interest to see how you thought they compared.

You'll be putting a lot of load through the pedals, so the mounting needs to be strong. Could you weld some bosses to the floor to bolt into? You could use those to set the pedals level at the same time. You may still find the floor bends a little. I'm not sure how stiff the floor is there really.

Not a lot. Most of his work was rally/track car builds.

MDA Motorsport used to do it in Ellesmere Port. He shut up shop as he was only running the business part time and wanted to concentrate on family life after having a second kid. Can ask if he kept the gear though.

That looks lovely. Were the door strips dull from the factory? They were always dull on my Cup but it had paint so I assumed they'd just been done badly, but they look similar on this. Pics really make me miss mine :(
