Some great cars on there. That 2dr 306 always looked great to me and the RS2000 is a car I've always had a soft spot for. Was on eBay recently. Would love to buy it, but don't really have any justification for it.
A great era. Full of excess, but lots of creative people out there building some...
Great buy. As you know, I made almost exactly the same change and my feelings were just the same. The Megane feels like a much more special car. Hopefully you will have lots of fun in it.
Didn't realise you were around the wilds of Norfolk either.
I think the window would have to be seriously dirty to damage the motor. I've accidentally put wipers on when it's been totally frozen and it's never burned anything out.
My 172 had had the rear wiper removed and it drove me mad to be honest.
Does anyone have access to a good calculator for this, or able to give me some guidance?
A couple of drives in my car have revealed that the brake pedal is pretty long. I need to bed the pads in, so the brakes aren't brilliant obviously, but there seems to be a lot of pedal travel regardless...
I think the question I would ask is, is there any reason you would go for the Mocal? I think I must just be a bit cheap but, given what some of the unbranded stuff can be had for, and that it's only a catch tank, I don't think I could be bothered with the expense of a fancy one.
Yeah the tyre rules do seem a bit odd for rallying. There is a list for forest stuff. I emailed the MSA about my Dunlops and just got a really cryptic, non-committal response. Probably wouldn't buy anymore, but they were cheap, so will just kill them off.
It's interesting how a lot of the FIA...
Interesting to note. My friend uses Kumhos on his Escort Maxi and seems to rate them quite highly. Have definitely heard that the early Dmacks were poor, but the new ones are supposed to be better.
I've got mostly Hankooks for now. Full set of soft Z209s and a set of Z210s for the wet, plus...
Do hear very mixed reviews on Dmacks. I bought a set for my car but my tyre guy couldn't even get them onto the rim. The sidewalls were so rock hard, that they wouldn't seat on the rim properly, so I just sold them on again. Got a mix of Hankook and Dunlops for now, so will see how they go.
I used to do a 100 mile round trip to work every day in my 172 Cup. It was annoying as f**k at times, but still loved the car.
I now have a Vectra for a cheap daily. I don't love it at all.
I run a Stack fuel gauge that can be calibrated to work with different senders. It's in the back of the car so you can see it when filling up.
I think instruments are a tough one in a way. You could argue about how much information you actually need while driving the car and whether it's better...
I just run an SPA tacho in the Escort, then a couple of cheap gauges for oil pressure and water temperature. The fancy screen ones are nice, but not sure I could justify the cost.
Like the right up from the 'ring. It's an amazing place. Watching the on-board made me want to go again!
The car sounds really good. What's been done to the engine/exhaust.
I love the phase 1 styling. I love how they look slightly thrown together. The front arches are somehow more obvious. It looks a bit more rough and ready.
