I wouldn't worry. F4R's are noisy engines. The Piper cams will exacerbate it. If you really want to change them then change them if/when the lifters begin to fail.

I stuck 3000 miles in very short order on my 93K mile project cup to see if it was any good. Not a single problem and as I continue to take it apart its impressing me just how well its held together/been maintained in the past.
I always seem to find stuff thats unreliable for everyone else...
No need for ITB's, I can get well over 100bhp/litre on a single throttle body/plenum inlet manifold setup and still maintain the DBW throttle body and full OBD2 diagnostics!
(note 'a' single throttle body/plenum setup not 'the standard' throttle body/plenum setup)

Old one or new one? Old airbox is too tall mate and the new one is too long - the new one requires the brake master cyl converting to a remote mount res in order to package it!
Plan is an AB65 straight onto the throttle body with an air feed from the nose of the car :-)

At the moment the gear linkage feels as good as my TVR used to be but not quite up there with a mates S2000. So in short its pretty good!
The extra weight at the top of the linkage helps with a more positive feel.
You're welcome to have a go in it when its done and see what you think.

Cheap chinese made quick shift front end linkage hacked about and rebushed with nylon bushes, new pin on the bottom of the linkage polished and packed with bearing grease, gearbox end striped, cleaned and greased. Feels much better.
Standard cage is knackered though so after another at the...
No point what so ever unless you're putting the car into a position where the extra camber would be useful. Just dropping some height out of it won't make that much of a difference to the camber that you'll need to adjust anything.

With sticky tyres and suitable spring/damer rates then there is a requirement to be able to dial in more negative camber to suit.
To give some idea on slicks with 425/725 lb springs F/R we run 3.75 degrees front and 2 degrees rear on the SE X85s.

98,612 on mine at the moment. Have put 2K on it in 4 weeks! Can't tell any difference between it and the 36K mile Cup I drove recently.
Comes off the road on Friday for the rebuild and after that I'm expecting it to do the same again no problem.
They're tough little things!

Its the dampers in the cheap Gaz kits thats cause most of the issue not the springs. The more expensive Gaz Gold stuff is good though - but you'll pay a grand for these rather than 450 quid!
If you do want to play with spring rates Gaz carry a variety of springs in stock and I would expect...
Do you just want thin wall ally pipe?
Pop into Tunnicliffe Engineering opposite the Vauxhall Garage/Chinese of death on Derby Road and ask them. If they don't have any they'll sort you out.

We hold our own on the overrun flames front pretty well LOL but know what you mean. Britcar 24 gets interesting with Moslers, 996 ALMS cars and big power BMW's mixing it with Clios, Beetles, Lupos and Elise!

Thanks Tony - it was tough going but consistant laps from all four drivers along with the durability we had engineered into the car and our low fuel burn rates (3 hour stints no problem) got us there in the end. Next stop Nurburgring 24hr with a bit more power and an attempt on the Aston N24's...
They're dead after a 24 hour race - its so hard on the cars in terms of damage and component wear rates. Takes around 250 hours to bring one back to A1 zero KM spec after a 24 hour.

We're so well sorted that we even have time to abuse Matty in the closing hours of a 24 hour race :D
In short if any one volunteers for 24 hour duties and goes to sleep you're ours!!! Matty even made it onto TV looking like that! :rasp:
