There's a thread over on 197.net where the chap who had some made with R-clips was selling them - search over there for caliper pins and you'll find it.
I did this, tried tickling the stuck one out, then once it had started to bend it was properly game over.
Can't remember what the replacement R-clip pins cost me, £40-£50 I think. Worth every single penny.
Not on the Porsche with the R-clips?
I'm due new front pads soon...I'm actually quite looking forward to getting it up with wheels off and swapping the pads over. I was absolutely dreading it last time LOL.
As above, they can be a nightmare.
First time I tried to do mine, 3 came out with persuasion from a lump-hammer + punch, but the 4th was stuck fast.
Ended up having to take the caliper off and get some heat onto it to get it moving.
I now have the pins held in with R-clips, instead of the...
Re: CLIO IV RS for 2013, Last news - NEW DETAILS #1779
Once someone throws some springs and spacers at one, all the doubters will be knocking one out over them.
I think they'll look epic.
Re: CLIO IV RS for 2013, Last news - NEW DETAILS #1779
A Mk3 5-door versus a Mk4 5-door will be circa 100kg lighter.
The reason the new Mk4 RS Clios is only 35 kgs or so lighter than the current RS200, is because it's going from a 3-door to a 5-door bodyshell.
Re: CLIO IV RS for 2013, Last news
I think it looks just fine. Like any modern hatchback to be honest...but with a mild sporting edge.
That'll do.
I look forward to seeing one in the flesh.
I'll be up that way as well...don't mind an early start if it means a flat-out blast with like minded members.
So what's the plan? What time do you think you'll be reaching the M25...I'll keep an eye out?
I ran my 172 Cup on whatever 15s I could find, from memory I had some from a Clio 16v, a 1.6 Dynamique, and a set of random TSW 6-spokes that I bought for a paltry sum on here.
Unless you're worried about looks just do that...from the driving seat you'll be highly unlikely to be able to...
I always understood it to be needing 1.6mm across 75% of the width of the tyre and visible pattern only on the remaining 25%.
Are you really saying that the outer edges (12.5% on each side) can be warn completely smooth and they'd still be legal.
Well, plenty of others ran comparisons with last year, same car, same rollers, and saw the same figures.
Reality with mine is it was owned by OAPs for its first 2.5 years and 18k miles so it never really got run in until I got hold of it.
And it genuinely does feel much keener...Charlie...
Two curves; 12 months ago and this weekend. Good fuel, a few trackdays, and an extra 22k miles seem to have run it in nicely compared to when I bought it on 18k miles.
I'd not consider that one because of 'breaks', because of '212 bhp', and because of two owners in 23k miles - how much would either of those have cared about the long term health of things like the clutch etc?
Of course, if you only intend on keeping it for a short time yourself it doesn't...
If you want to fit in on here you need Recaros, cup suspension and projector lights as a minimum, probably best seek out some silver visions too.
if however you don't care what anyone else thinks, buy whatever comes along at the right price and just drive the f***ing thing. They're sublime...
Tyres are the limiting factor in your performance; what use is upgraded suspension if your tyres don't allow you to exploit it?
Best tyres on standard suspension will out perform crap tyres on upgraded suspension.
Well, I'll be back there every year for a RR run while I own it and that's likely to be for at least another 3 or 4 years, so I should end up with a nice chart showing year on year gains as the miles pile on.
One day it might even make the claimed 200 LOL
