hence why i clearly stated HANDGLAZING, which gets rid of the swirls, you could go straight to waxing after that if you wanted but the polish, like you say would fill any other scratches (probably quite harsh ones)
This would work a lot longer than a few washes as you would be waxing it which...
clay bar then get some 3m hand glaze, go up and down, then side to side motion,
only go in straight lines as well, same idea as machine polishing but you wont get as good'a result as you would with a machine polisher, but will still elliminate the majority of the swirls
It is vital that you...
Re: 172 with an unknown direction
hey thanks mate hopefully it will all go as planned, got a lot of bodywork to tidy up but most of that is getting sorted during the machine polishing
Will have some better pics up of it when my mate gets a new lense for his SLR
Re: 172 with an unknown direction
not sure, only thing im now certain of is Gaz coilovers and a full AAS exhaust system.....wheels are still to be decided
Well Here we go....
Been a member on here since i owned my coilovered megane coupe (iirc 2 years ago) and always wanted a 172, at the time tho (17) insurance was always going to be an issue
So a few years down the line with a few other french fancie's in between (pics on request) I've arrived...
my 172 does the same, you think that it has warmed up when actually it hasnt, it takes 15 mins for mine to warm up properly before you can really start giving it some, and even then it sometimes hits the cold start limiter,
It may be worth while to take it for a spirited drive down some...
its ok the clio seems to have woken up yesterday and was just 1mph short of tickling the 140 mark so it may have just needed a good pasting :)
I did notice the considerable drop of revs between 4th to 5th, it just say goes above 5krpm when you change into 5th so Im guessing the longer ratio...
Like I say the guy that had it got it serviced at the intervals,
Think I will save up for an ITG filter Element for it and do a full service on it
Does anybody know the best oil to use? I always use magnetic but im sure the clio is a different grade to the usual 5/40
Also is the fuel filter...
hmm strange, what does yours have done to it?
It probably needs a good service if Im honest as Ive only just bought the car
need to check the history to find out when it was last done
well we are talking going from flat out in 4th to 5th so approx 120 mph
The saxo did have 4-2-1 exhaust and filter, but that shouldnt make that much of a difference against a standard 172?
The 172 is very strange, it flys through the gears, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, then gets into 5th and just...
just seems strange as my vts would just rip straight past it at that sort of speed :(
I blame the twin cats in it :)
Going to give it a good service and get a full AAS de-cat back system (£500) eeek!
hi guys, I know this is a strange one but ive recently purchased a ph-quick 172 and it seems to pull very well in every gear apart from 5th
It seems fine in every other gear but when flat out in 5th it seems to go like a 1.4 :(
Im just comparing it to when me and a friend had a play on when...
was a good meet guys as always, ive now been to more cliosport meets than coupe club ones haha, hope you guys liked the meg, i kinda got it slap bang in the middle of the clios :D
yeah thats the ones lol, was talking to a lad who has delt with both and reckoned the megane was faster thats why i didnt get the clio as i was thinking power to weight etc but nvm, go ahead and mod it though mate, gotta be worth it to keep up with the 172 boys :P
if this is the same engine thats in my megane (k4m i think it is, 1.6 16v) then around 155bhp is achievable
enclosed filter
head skimmed/ported/ polished
either reprofiled cams or new road/race cams from kent/cat cams etc
manifold, de-cat and full system
a good re-map as well to make sure...
good pics ;) duno who found those locations :P haha
deans car is a measley 60, he needs coilovers to be low :P
looking forward to the next meet guys and maybe you'l get the pleasure of the coupe club :P
couple of pics for ya mark and anyone else that cares
hope you guys like it
