I know! Although the normal test that gives 89-90 on mine is static throttle, stationery, and 75% of max rpm.
The readings today, had 70+ mph road noise, full revs, wide open throttle, and induction roar thrown in.
Yup.
I've always wondered what 2 hrs of exposure to this on a trackday is doing to my ears.
Gave a lift this afternoon to one of our engineers, who just happened to have the works db meter to hand so we headed off to the local DC for a blast.
Had a few runs through the gears, keeping it between...
I find them excellent on track but on the road, the initial bite, compared to how they brake once up to temperature makes them a bit awkward to modulate.
Like when you're braking from say 80mph, you get pressure on the pedal for the amount of braking you need, then BAM!, they get a bit of heat...
Aye, came without them.
Mine looks like this and along with a few things you can't see (under-bonnet sound insulation, engine undertray lining, carbon canister, power-steering) I've taken 117kgs out leaving it currently at 904kgs with about another 15kgs to come when I finally swap out the...
Fletch, consider putting the foam back in where you're removed the rear quarter panels.
I took mine out originally, but then realised;
a, I saved absolutely nothing weight wise
b, the tiniest knock from anything inside the car without the foam in place would dent your bodywork
May not be...
I told mine everything about mine, right down to headlining, sun-visor, and airbag removal along with changing the steering wheel and adding the seat + harness.
As I wasn't adding anything performance enhancing there was no premium increase and they've just noted "General interior...
I got what I use from PC world last July.
Can't say exactly what the processor spec is, but it's got 4gb RAM, a 500gb HDD, 17 inch screen and CD/DVD driver/writer. It's good enough for all you want plus it handles my video projects no problem.
They don't list mine anymore (got it last July...
I feel alive when I thrash mine, and feel guilty if I don't get an opportunity to drive it HARD.
They need to be driven hard, they'll thank you for it in the long run.
They are spot on for track or race, but I found them a bit too much for the road.
Plus, you get randoms coming up to you when you've stopped saying this...
Sometimes works as it should, mostly it doesn't though.
It refuses to wipe at all, or it wipes constantly (not intermittent) even if all wipers are switched off.
I'm guessing moisture in it somewhere.
Anyone else had something similar? If so, is there an obvious starting point?
I'd do this.
Where in Hampshire are you? I've always used Rentech in Portsmouth, can't fault them, and in 7 years/125k miles I've not once had an issue at MOT time with my rear brakes.
My Cup gets commuted once a week to keep things moving and the discs clear of rust. Apart from that, the only times it gets driven are purely for fun and purely for the hell of it. Love it.
Re: Renault Sport Clio 182 - Looking to buy as an exciting daily drive. Talk to me pl
As a daily drive, on all sorts of roads they're just fine.
I did 96k over 4 years from new before retiring it to live its final days out on track. Didn't miss a beat during that time, and was more than...
I'm exactly the same. Wanted to start getting silly with the Cup to the extent that it's no longer suitable as a daily hack. Plus the fact that it's now on over 125k miles and I want it to enjoy its retirement, not slowly die from sitting in traffic on the commute.
Cost wise, no cheaper at all...
Hi Kris
I'm afraid I'm pretty clueless as to what I've had fitted...I tend not to get my hands dirty and let Mike at Rentech sort it all out for me when my original rack went.
What I can say is that it is an electrically assisted dCi rack fitted, but without the electrical assistance...
I echo the standard option.
I got mine new, and over 125k miles and many trackdays I've stuck with standard (got through 3 complete sets). The only reason I'm now on Sportlines is because I had a cracked front spring, and there were no used standard sets for sale on here.
Give it a go, take...
Forget thoughts about the calipers being to small for the car...the Cup race cars run standard calipers. There are 4-pot options, but most stick with standard.
Braided lines, a good fresh fluid, Brembo HC discs, and standard pads are more than adequate on the road.
For mild track use, DS2500s...
This...if anyone's interested that is.
Find a quiet road, get up to say 40mph in 5th gear, then while staying at 40mph, shift down through the gears to 2nd, rev matching each shift. Your aim is to stay at a constant 40mph, giving no noticeable 'jerks' forward or backwards as you select each...
