I agree. Mine starts pulling harder at 4k then really gets going at 5k. It's not a flatspot to me, it's a change for the better, and it's become more noticable with every kg removed.

I'm running a set of T1-R. Great in the dry, massive grip when loaded. In the wet, forget it.

Yes standard suspension, but with over 100 kgs removed so it sits err, a little high.

They're different from 172 to 182? Can't say I've ever noticed a difference on any of the RS clios I've driven.

110 v 111 bhp per ton. Too close to call if given death from the off I'd say.

Remove resevoir, all pipework, pump, pulley, powered rack and all the fluid...and replace that lot with a manual rack and shorter belt. I can't tell you any more though, Rentech Mike did it all for me.

Are these costly to maintain? How long do they last?

Bear in mind that my Cup is currently 206kgs lighter than a standard 172 (89kgs lighter when it left the factory) and there's an easy 50kgs or so if I was prepared to go that far. 265 would be no problem from a car so BIG to start with. ;)
