IME on my 1.2, you'll have to cut the standard 1.2 exhaust off, that's if it's the original, if not the join could be in the same place as it is on the other backbox, meaning you can just unblot and rebolt.
Ironically this thread makes me want to buy a mk1, bung it on the drive/in the spare garage, and bung and engine in it, unfortunately I don't have any keen friends, and none of you knowledgeable lot are local... :(

It does work out a lot cheaper to do this in the end IME.
Toyo t1r's are VERY cheap in that size.
