    Has your 172/182 been reliable?

Yes totally reliable apart from : exhaust rotting off, gearbox exploding, steering rack going wrong, boot lock needing to be replaced, dampers leaking, intermittent starting issues, steering wheel melting, abs sensor going wrong, exhaust mounts constantly needing replacing, sump gasket...

Re: Drag Racing at Shakesphere Today my gearbox has decided to start really f*cking up, put it in reverse and you get 1st, put it in 1st you get 3rd. Syncro mesh is obviously f*cked, if it's still in one peice by the time we go I might just let the strip destroy it. Let the f*cking thing go...

    ***Tyre Poll***

Right Uni RS2s are fantastic tyres in the wet and i've seen far better cars than mine aquaplane on standing water, where mine just pounds it's way through with no problems. However they are NOT warm weather tyres in any way shape or form, if you give them some abuse on a nice warm dry day, you...

Re: Drag Racing at Shakesphere I haven't got the money to go on track days, putting the cost of the actual track day aside which is normally quite pricey, i'd want 15s with track tyres and spare brake pads so I didn't shed my daily parts. The dog kennel's having a new steering rack next week...

Re: Drag Racing at Shakesphere If I was going on a proper track day where it's possible I could flip the car and die then i'd spend some money, but I blast up empty duel carriageways almost everyday wearing nothing more than a smile, so for a quick blast in a straight line up to 90 odd, I...

    MY NEW 172

What are those black bits on the rear arches?
  17. DaveDreads

That's another £100quid on the bill then. But it's best to change the clutch when you swap boxes, especially if it's an old one.

    Locking/unlocking problem...

What Don said, sometimes mine does it when I press the button, most of the time it's down to me pressing it like a pansy, but when it started doing it loads, I switched to using my spare key and it doesn't do it any more. Tbh I could just change the battery in the other one, but i'm lazy. :D
  19. DaveDreads

    Gutted

Yep since getting more involved in club area meets, i've got to know so really decent lads that are always willing to help out in any way they can.
  20. DaveDreads

    Gutted

So the clutch has gone aswel?
  21. DaveDreads

    Gutted

Does it free wheel with the clutch in? When mine shat itself and was stuck in two gears the clutch still worked, so when the recovery truck came, I sat in it so it could be towed onto the flatbed.

If you become a member for £12 you'll have access to the sale section, there's a box in there for £100 at the moment.
  23. DaveDreads

    Gutted

It's not going to cost you over a grand mate, mine went bang at 70mph and jammed in two gears, £270quid got me another box from a breakers, you can get them cheaper on here, around £200. Then if you know absolutely no-one who can swap it for you, then Fred@BTM (Brum) or Danny@519 (Bedford) can...

    I don't understand 'slamming'

It's to get bad-ass 'Stance' innit. I'm not a fan either, a nicely lowered car yes, scraping on the floor and crawling over speed bumps like an arthritic tortoise......no!!!
