I'll try and find a picture of the failure, personally it just doesn't seem right to me, I would be very surprised if the centre spigot didn't play a role. To have it not play a role goes against my gut and a lot of stuff I've been taught/come across. When you talk about the tolerances that...
Should be plenty then, if push comes to shove you could just get some ally ones made up (6000 series should suffice). It really is a dead easy think to make.
I'm a curious chap so I'll probe further. Firstly, that 5 tonnes shear force is a static load, the studs under go fully reversed fatigue loading. This probably isn't a problem as shock loading will be more than double what "generic" loading is and steed has a beautiful endurance limit. I'd...
Yup that's correct, if you take the shims out too which is recommended if you track you'll get a bit of noise from them on bumpy surfaces but well worth it for the performance in my opinion
In the case of the Clio I believe tripoding is always caused by maximum droop being reached in extreme roll, which isn't related to the severity of the damping.
I realise tripoding is if anything bad when cornering as a tyre coefficient of friction decreases with increased loading but it looks...
My 2118s are booked in for a refurb Tuesday, but I'm not certain what colour to go for. Tempted by a shadow chrome finish but not sure if it would suit the wheels. Orange is always an option but I can easily plasti dip them matt orange so I may as well go for a metallic/gloss colour. They're...
Just to double check I'm not being thick, does the Whiteline ARB reduce the tendency to tripod?
The two arguments in my head are as follows, ARB stops outside wheel tucking up as much and so the inside wheel stays firmly planted. Or the ARB lifts in the inside wheel up with the outside wheel...
I service it on a regular basis, let water get to operating temp and then give it another 10 minutes to warm oil up before I thrash it. It does see 6000 rpm on a regular basis though, the national limit sign is just so provocative.
I have sportlines (plan to move to cooksports soon) had have chosen 20mm front and 15mm rear for my ET48 2118s with a 205 tyres. I'll let you know in a week how it goes!
When I read stuff like that it reminds me why I leave the VD to my mate and dabble in everything else!
I'm thinking a combination of squat, boot load and other stuff have led to it. But then you get stuff like rear wheel frequencies being faster to allow it catch up with the front. Then it's...
Gloss anthracite wrap due to budget. My toyo R1Rs came today :) that and got a bit more done. Just the boot, rear bumper and one rear quarter to do now.
Should be fine, just be wary that the tyres will behave differently under different conditions. So in the dry your car might tend more towards understeer and then if the ground becomes wet it will tend more towards oversteer.
