Finally got my hosepipe installed so took the opportunity in the good weather to clean it. Used the new AMDetails items I bought a few weeks back. Looks really good now. Do reccomend this items.
Polishing a turd comes to mind
Although it highlights the real need of a full respray. But the way...
I did loads of scrapping like you did, was easier after using a heat gun but didn't get it all off. I might have to give it another go then with more elbow grease.
How did you get the sticker on the drivers visor mirror flap? I also took mine off the weekend as it was flaking. But nothing seems to shift the glue - tried IPA, nail varnish remover and heated with a heat gun. It’s just the last little bits of the glue.
The next thing I was going to try was...
I don't think I have used a rear wiper in the past 14 years of driving I don't think? Although I do have a rain repllant on the windows and that does make a difference.
Before my current Ph1 I had only ever driven one with bucket seats so never really understood people's issues with the...
I keep looking at the “enlarged refurbed” ones on eBay and not sure about them. I really don’t want to have to do it as it will be on ITBs at some point in the future.
I know, why they stopped making them is madness. The after market ones are rubbish.
Is that a new/refurbed throttle body?
I have noticed mine is starting to stick when driving in stop start traffic so it's probably a downward slope for it now. I probably shlould change the throttle cable on it as a start.
Sounds a good plan to me that does. Didn’t think of the tail gate but there is some gaps in the double skin of that
It’s one thing I have noticed is how refined new cars are. Going from a new M140i to the Ph1 made me appreciate it. Doesn’t stop me enjoying the Clio more! Well, if it had heated...
I was thinking something the same for mine since getting my new exhaust (it might be loud but hell of a lot quieter than the previous one which was so poor fitting it banged on the chassis which made the car undrivable). I was going to put some under the boot mat as a starting point and maybe...
I glazed my E34 last week and going to apply the hybrid sealant after work this Friday. Need to get the Clio done too at some point when the weather picks up, that’s needs a proper clean and wouldn’t mind giving it a once over with the DA first. My brother also got the same stuff, he is more...
New washer jets turned up. I pushed the boat out and went for genuine Citroen ones, however they were in Alfa Romeo packaging
Worked a treat so turned out the previous washer jets were a dud. Did order a new washer fluid pump just in case and fitted that too
the Bluetooth to aux converter I...
Car hadn't been used for a period of time so it was just getting it back to 100%. So I gave it a full service - cam belt, dephasher, water pump, aux belt and tensioner, spark plugs, coil pack, HT leads, oil change, air filter, front brake discs and pads and rear break discs and pads. Did put a...
I'm short so I have never noticed. Although I will be putting in bucket seats at some point this year.
As has been said maintenance is key on them now. I bought mine back in June and only just started to use it. I used that time to sort out a few niggles and make it mechanically sound so I...
I daily my Ph1 172 and it is not the first one I have used as a daily car - my old Ph1 was a stripped out track car that I used to commute in for a period.
Can't fault my current one. Its great fun when I want, comfortable, got air con for when it is warmer, easy to drive without the need to...
No picture update from me but I can confirm I prefer driving my Ph1 to my M140i that I returned this week. I’m properly happy with it and it’s not even close to the spec I want.
#Ph1Life.
Should have ordered their Hybrid shampoo as well, I thought I had more of the current normal shampoo left than I actually do so will need to order some more, just hope they have it in stock.
Will wait until the weather picks up a bit and can spend a bit of time on both cars giving them a good...
Did a bit of tinkering on the car this morning.
Washer jets weren't working that well when I bought the car, never really bothered me and I just replaced them with mist jets from a C3 as an upgrade. Had them on my old one and was impressed. But they weren't any good either. Now that I need to...
There was a strict criteria before BMW would consider buin - less than 5 years old and less than X miles, full BMW service history and there was something else I can't remember. It was a targetted email of their customers tough so I doubt they go looking on eBay and such.
I did the same with my M140 yesterday. Had an blanket email last week from the dealer saying "We want your BMW", dropped them a message saying I am only interested if I don't have to pay anything to settle the finance, he came back with a revised price saying he would match the settlement if I...
In cleaning news, just ordered some AMDetails new hybrid range sealant and detailer. The sealant is described as “technically a ceramic coating but we don’t want to say it is as it’s cheating a bit”. This means I’ll have to give the Clio a good clean when it arrives and that will only highlight...
I used etch primer and then normal spray paint. Worked on my old Ph1 and I’ve just done it on my current one. For the heat shield material do what @Coops Mk1 did that I copied and use Auto Glym spray dye. My take on it is that is not 100% black but soooo much better than before.
The original...
my brother said the Quaife diff in his old 106 was the best thing he ever did to it, and that had an epic engine in too - was a 1.6ltr race prepped engine with lairy cams an ITB's. That car could scare most things off the line and around a track (top speed wasn't its thing but I think he maxed...
Suspension upgrades and/or refresh of bushes etc.
A good service to bring it back to "100%".
Possibly new brake discs and pads.
Bigger engine mods is the last thing I would do, and will be done last on mine after it is mechancially sounds and handles better.
Same with mine this is.
I had two keys when I bought my Ph1 - one that started the car and only worked in the door locks and when pressing the button the little light would show on the fob. The other would remotely unlock the doors but not start the car. Locksmith managed to get one key to...
