How much were belts/dephaser at DDC? I think it's worthwhile changing the dephaser too for the peace of mind alone.
DDC seem slightly closer to me than Clioturbo too which is good.
RSMurray wouldn't budge on the price, it did seem quite high! I just bought a service kit so would I get money...
I'm looking around to get my belts done now on my 182. Thought i'd shove some pricings up so far with full belt kit and dephaser change. RS Murray are offering £700, Clioturbo are £495, waiting on replies from RSTuning, diamond motors and DTM. What are peoples experiences with Clioturbo? Seems...
Well the SGS one arrived today and it seems to be decent quality! Not yet tried it as it's wet outside but for the price it's looking pretty good. Was quite interesting they suggest servicing of it every month and topping up with oil, how many people do that with their trolley jacks?
I read in a thread on here before someone who had got some sort of insulation/ sound proofing stuff from b&q I believe and lined his boot floor, rear doorcards with the stuff to reduce rattles and stop the road noise. Can't find it for the life of me now though!
Sorry ive only just seen this!
I made a thread on here but I havn't updated it recently as the cars at my mums in York, whilst i study in Huddersfield. http://www.cliosport.net/threads/1974-spitfire-restoration.791022/
Looking good now though, wish I had the space like you! All my works been...
Looks like it has herpes.
Such a shame though, but I guess they're not too noticeable? A respray isnt too expensive anyway ;)
That big cloth looks the orange drying towel I got from asda, similar pile depth.
Spoiler? :)
Also the vanish trick is you fill up a bucket of hot water, add vanish, unscrew the belts at the bottom and extend fully then either shut them in the door or use a peg to stop it retracting. Shove inside the bucket and agitate, leave to soak, then agitate, leave to soak then wipe...
Installed the dashcam I got for christmas today. I had hoped to get it further behind the rear view mirror, but due to the mounting brackets it just wasn't possible. It's way out of the way of my sight, and I dont see it being an issue when I'm looking in the rearview especially as the screen...
You have done a really good job of this mate! Car is a real credit to you. Most wont like that it's a 1.2 you've done it to though, but got to appreciate the amount of work in it.
You main concern at the minute is the payout on the car, i'd then focus on getting the car back as surely they have a legal obligation to do so? I'm not sure about the ins and outs of that. Recovery wouldn't be expensive. I'm sure someone in sheffield wouldn't mind helping you out if you're...
I know people who have had them done at a garage, i dont know if i'd risk it DIY! I think the main concern is vacuuming out any swarf. What cars this on?
Probably someone working at the garage it's being held at wanting to buy it. I'd fight for the car back mate, even if it's cat D, if you aren't looking to sell it and it costs a few hundred to repair, who cares?
