¼ Mile At Pod - Saturday October 19th

Indeed, not to mention panicking what's his names Skyline, he had a bad launch and I had a perfect one, took him the whole 1/4 to catch me, only took me by a car length at the line. Although the last time I saw him he'd sorted out a minor boost leak and added more boost, if I race him again...

What do you keep in your boot?

The strangest thing: A large old style tube TV for a mate (at the time), doesn't sound strange but he'd just burgled someone's house that ripped him off and neglected to tell me that's why he needed a lift. Not that smack heads robbing smack heads is the crime of the century, he didn't last...

What do you keep in your boot?

Umbrella in the boot, jump leads under the passenger seat, water proof coat, over trousers and wellies in the passenger footwell.

LOL indeed, although it would have needed £900 quids worth of work without the drag day, can't have helped though. :o

    Im sorry but 7k

Looks like the soapbox contraption the Jamaicans used in cool runnings. This is only photo I could find of it though. However I also found these two pictures that I quite like. Yes, that is indeed a Giraffe raping a donkey, I wish the funny pictures thread would get reopened.

That's anyone's guess, Dan changes cars like women change shoes. Really enjoyed the last drag day, yes it's not a proper track day but it's a lot less stressful on the tyres and brakes, even with burnouts before ever run, not so good for the gearbox though.

    Im sorry but 7k

He spent £20k on it to make it look like the special bus to the Thunderdome. What a waste of an Impreza.

    Switchable Remap Device

Fastchip, but it would mean remapping your car with a laptop every time you wanted to go from oem to aftermarket map. There may be a switchable device for a Clio, but i've never seen one like you can buy for VW's and Audi's. Edit: I stand corrected. lol

    Clutch or mounts?

No problem mate, i'm sure someone else will be along shortly to help you with the other issue. New clutches are relatively cheap, unfortunately the labour to change it isn't.

    Clutch or mounts?

The banging noise under hard changes is one of the mounts, probably the dogbone if it's coming from under the floor, polybushes stops it from happening. Can't help you with the other weird noise though, you sure it's not the aux belt squealing?

    'normal' lumpy idle

That's a good point, i've been using the same plugs for the past 5 years.

    'normal' lumpy idle

Mine revs itself from 900-2000rpm when it's cold, but it only lasts a minute or two when you first set off, if you leave it for a few minutes before driving it doesn't do it at all.

The Impreza picture and discussion thread

They did a few STi wagons but they're JDM imports. Here's the one I told you about that I couldn't find the other day, just wish I had £2,500. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/subaru/impreza-sti/jdm-wrx-sti-v3-estate/1447638

    'normal' lumpy idle

My Fastchip 98ron map has the cold idle at 1100rpm, then 900/950rpm when it's up to temp. OEM map is 1000rpm on cold idle and 850rpm when up to temp. It's only a small change but it makes quite a difference to how it drives when stone cold, gets rid of the jerky power delivery it has as standard.

Why do I get the feeling it won't happen because of the sh*tty English autumn weather.

Can't even begin to imagine what the retail would have been on one of those, probably more than any of us could afford pal. Apart from DK and Munson obviously, but that goes without saying.

    'normal' lumpy idle

£200 quid would buy you the unit and the correct map for your car, you do it yourself with a laptop, it sounds scary but in reality it's a piece of piss. Or there are numerous tuners that'll do it for you for around the same price, although you won't get a unit to keep, the come in handy for...

    'normal' lumpy idle

An Fastchip 98ron map improves the lumpiness a fair bit, as far as I know the lumpy idle is down to the cams and the way it's timed. The F4R block started life as a 1.8, so it's in a high state of tune even before you start fiddling with it, that's why it cost a bloody fortune to squeeze any...

    'normal' lumpy idle

It's a quick little French tin bucket with some character and thank God tbh, it wouldn't be as much fun if it was a soulless VW or Audi that felt quite numb to drive, albeit very smooth and comfortable. I have noticed that when the lumpy idle gets worse on mine, it needs an oil change, after...

    How is your battery secured?

As already discussed, they don't work if the raised lip on your battery tray's snapped off, as is the case with mine and the OP's.

Bring the Porsche then, or take the van up the strip and see what time it does filled with horse shoes and stuff.

Bag strap mate, it passes it's mot every time.
  28. DaveDreads

    How is your battery secured?

Funny you should say that because my exhaust is currently held on by hopes, dreams and zip ties, and before I got my alternator reconned I was charging my battery everyday too, then blagging strangers to let me jump start my car off their battery when I was out and about.
  29. DaveDreads

    How is your battery secured?

I'm not spending money at the scrappy when a strap works perfectly well, pikey fixes rule!
  30. DaveDreads

    How is your battery secured?

The clamp doesn't do a damn thing on mine, the raised lip on the battery tray that keeps it in place has snapped off, so I took a strap off an old sports bag and fed it under the battery tray to strap the thing down. The strap keeps it secure enough for the clamp to do it's job.
