You just told him that first cars are for crashing... that's not very good advice for getting him lower insurance.

His car is worth £400. It's a 1.2. Insurance want £4000. How on earth will he insure a 172?

LOL? Correct me if I'm wrong, but crashing makes your insurance premiums increase...
