no mate not had it on a RR yet, on a very acurate result RR day as standard it ran 173bhp with just an ITG filter so going on that and the gains ive experianced id say its probably around the high 180's but again thats just what i would expect it to run.
cheers for all the advice guys ill have...
are we talking standard inlet manifold as in the inlet manifold in general or standard as in the standard condition of the ports (its running AWT matched inlet)
as title is there any worth while cams that can be mapped to run on the standard ecu, dont want to spend a fortune to run standalone management but would be a nice adition to finish off my build and push it over 200bhp
opinions and options?!
not just how much torque you have but when you get it, my dci has around 120lb/ft odd (or there abouts?) really low down and its brilliant around town but yet my 172 with 150lb/ft+ mid range isnt as usefull around town just to cruise about with.
not got injectors for it yet mate thats the plan though, possibly they would fit im not 100% sure. ill look into it
dci65 uses the 1.6 16v box(valver) and the dci80 uses a 172 box(williams), dci 100 like the OP's is a complete different box. im not 100% if you could use an uprated 172/1.6 16v...
awesome, i bet it makes a nice difference having the torque from the 2.2, ive never driven a 2.0 vtec but had a shot of an ek9 1.6 vtec and the lack of torque ment it wasnt that quick unless you were REALLY going for it which gets tiresome after a while!
the 172 has a newer better running engine, the 1.2 engines are crap on fuel economy. i got 280 miles to a tank of petrol when driving my 1.2 hard, i get 260 to a tank in my 172, i will quite hapily take 20 miles less to a tank for 120bhp more!!!! servicing with the exeption of cambelt change is...
tax yep about £100 cheaper, few hundred cheaper insurance, mpg i got 38 odds in my 1.2 on average and average around 30 in my 172, can get over 40 though and its still drivable, drive a 1.2 like a granny and your going no where, very unplesent.
now lets look at a dci, tax is over £100 cheaper...
smart arse.
you could get a few of those gel pads that absorb moisture to keep it from getting damp underneat, other than that a few coats of wax all over to protect the finish
if you would read it im not slating anyone for doing a rep, clearly stating the only point in doing one is to save on running costs, in which case get a dci or dont bother as a 1.2s not really that much cheaper to run than a 172!!
thats a 172 though will sound different on yours, personally id go for the sport one, supersport will be louder but since its a stealth after all you dont want it being loud!
ive always been wary of tuning boxes as they are no contest for a proper ecu remap but at £100 i suppose its no big loss you could always sell it on! let me know how you get on if you get one
what model is it DCi65, 80 or 100?
ive got a 65, running a K&N pannel filter and DCi80 intercooler and already saw some gains, just trying to find a clutch to handle the torque so i can get it mapped with some dci80 injectors!
for starters lets remember i had a 1.2 16v with well over £1000 of suspension mods, and it didnt handle as well as my STANDARD chassis 172 with a set of sportlines on it!
now take your replica, put 172 bottom arms with 172 anti roll bar, and either 172 suspension or some coilovers, uve already...
i still think the only point in doing a rep is around a dci to save cash on fuel bills.
i insured a 172 at 17 for only twice what my mates were paying on 1.2's but i had the looks, the power, the handling, i had the real deal! it was worth it.
a dci is much better on fuel (i average just...
