My friend had one of these, unbelievable cars! I think it was mapped as well. I was pretty jealous every time I sat in it to be honest, with the DSG box the acceleration just pins you back into your seat like no car I've been in.
He had a full custom decat fitted to his and it sounded...
That really sucks mate. What sort of person does something like that? The crash might have been an honest mistake but to drive off....
If that happened to me I'd give anything to get my hands on the perpetrator
They're by no means self-claimed Renault specialists, but from the work I've seen them do, I'd have thought they could do a belt change with their eyes shut.
They fitted my cage, satchshift (same as PMS shifter) and did some re-wiring to my 106 GTi a couple of years ago.
They had also built a...
Mick is deffo the go-to guy, but on the other hand, he's always super busy so you'll need to book well (weeks) in advance.
Noble Motorsport in Chesterfield are a good alternative, really good guys there and their work is top notch.
Welcome mate. Yeah the car is well known here. You've got yourself a super clean 182 there.
Here's his old project thread if you've not already seen it (I'm hoping it was sold honestly)

Fair enough mate. Was just double checking.
@GrahamS is currently building a 172/182 replica down to pretty much the last nut and bolt if you want any inspiration, check his project blogs.
Are you a young driver?
If you're currently unable to afford a faster/sportier car, you're probably unable to afford the insurance on a modified car? When I was 18, just adding something simple like lowering springs almost doubled my insurance as 9/10 companies wouldn't insure me for a...
*Rushes to hospital to be there in time for birth of new son*
'Hmmm.. do I have time for a quick photo? Who am I kidding, there's always time for a quick photo'
Took the Cup out to Snake Pass in the Peak District yesterday. Got up at 5:30am to beat the traffic - Snake Pass at 7am on a Sunday morning = almost a private racetrack aha.
The Clio took a bit of a caining which I feel a little guilty for, but it did everything I asked of it and more!
Here's...
Ace. Glad you got it sorted mate after the initial disaster!
Like you mentioned, at the end of the day- good power figures are nice but not what really matters, what's important is the smile it puts on your face when you put the pedal to the metal
Why don't you work backwards... what's it worth with a rebuilt box? £3-3.5k if you advertise it right? Let's say £3200
A rebuilt box these days goes for say... £400? If you can't do it yourself, fitting about £350, plus consumables like oil and coolant etc... so say another £400?
£3200 - 900 =...
Stunning car mate, shame it's come to this. I'm in nearly the same position as I'm hopefully going to be starting a new job soon with a 30 mile commute. Already putting enough wear and tear on mine as it is hitting the country roads as much as possible!
Value wise... I'm really not sure...
Agreed, my 106 had terrible rust issues so glad it's nothing serious like that.
Haha wouldn't have blamed you if you took the chair, gotta take your chances!
One thing I'll never ever understand, is why people take passengers out on their track days. People go to all that effort weight shedding and increasing power/weight ratio and then stick 60kg(+++) in the passenger seat!
Finally happy with how this thing rides and drives. At long last I've eliminated all knocking and rattling noises by installing the new rear dampers and lowering the exhaust down a few mm using a couple of washers. Went out for a drive on Wednesday with my mate and his new toy.
They're quite...
