If the starter motor's clicking, this would be my first port of call. Engine should still turn on the starter if it's the immob, it just won't fire.

Sure have. Did it last weekend. Along with all other drive belts, the water pump, thermostat etc.

Excuses. :( Spent another couple of hours on the e30 tonight. Will hopefully be OK to run. Need to give it an Italian tune-up first to make sure the limiter is reliable! :)
