172 engine is strong and the standard rev limit isnt really stressing it ... just that the power drops off after 6.8k so a higher limit would only give you slightly longer legs not anymore power. Personally once the car is warmed up (I hold it below 3.5k when cold ... or about 4k on m/way) ...

Yep ... my assistant has got a standard 20vt and its as skittish as hell on the road! Also the VAG 1.8 turbo is such a soulless engine. Having driven both her Ibiza and my 172 ... glad Ive got the 172!

sh*t ... Im gonna feel it when I switch to the V6!! My 172s been in having its bumper sorted and so been bodyshop for a while ... had reset the computer before it went in. After a while driving a frigging Fiesta, now Ive got my car back Ive been blatting everywhere - motorway plus local...

Matty ... got hold of copy of this month Evo. Its end of term for their Fast Fleet V6 and gives a good view of the costs. Evo reckoned they paid £500 for a pair of tyres ... shmall managed £310 ... reckon my local Micheldever tyres will be able to do them for even less. Beyond tyres, brakes look...

After Ive let it warm up a bit .... I rag is all the time subject to road conditions. Only time it granny shift like KDF is when it wet and slippery ;) Great thing with the 172 is that even with this driving style (and not many motorway miles) I still average 32mpg+!

Youll know if youve got the alloy bonnet ... its very light!

Appears that new style MOT is certificate is computer generated, and so is a central database somewhere that knows about your MOT.

Hmmm ... newregcars have V6s for £21600! That is an absolute bargain ... cheapest Ive seen by far! When a car is pre-reg ... how long until the ownership is transferred to you? Is this the dodge of them keeping it for 90 days etc..?
