By no means a sure fire way of checking, but what numbers do you have displayed on the iDrive sport dials? And what number do they supposedly go up to under full load? Might tell you whether it's been messed with or not.
I've said this before, but for real world driving my 430D was a better can than my M4 and probably the "best" car I've owned.
Plenty quick enough, handled well for a wafty diesel, cheap as chips to run and it never let me down. Not a single repair (that I can think of anyway) in nearly 5 years...
No chance for me to get a photo of it, but a gorgeous racing green and yellow-striped Caterham came absolutely HOONING past me earlier today. Must have a death wish though given the speed he was driving, and without a helmet.
Most likely, yeah. I think I let them sit with salt on for too long over the winter unfortunately. They actually usually come up OK after a regular clean, but now the warm and sunny weather is here they've deteriorated more. Or at least that's how it seems.
Can anyone recommend something to smarten up the carbon tips on my exhaust? They’re hard to get to properly, but they’re starting to look s**t now.
Photo isn’t great but gives an idea what they’re like:
Tonight's job will be removing the never ending army of bugs that have decided to die on my windscreen. I gave it a thorough clean only Friday, but you can't tell. I don't remember it being this bad in recent years!
I suspect I'll be approaching that crest at well over a tonne (or could be, with some balls), so I'll be having to make sure I don't outbrake myself tbh :ROFLMAO:
That's definitely the kind of vibe I'm hoping for so all sounds good.
And thank you, might end up taking you up on that offer, we'll see. Will have a watch of your video later, too!
How many are likely to actually be on the track this year? Realistically I won't be pushing all that hard as a) it'll be my first time, and b) I'd like to have some rubber and pad left at the end of the day.
If the on-track numbers are likely to be fairly low, I'll probably just chance it to...
Are there any recommendations for track day insurance? I've tried a few online including Moris, Brentacre etc. but they're all coming in around £200. Maybe I'm expecting too much or am out of touch, but seems a bit pricey to me...?
Oh and on a separate note, I've booked a ticket for the gf to...
Spotted my first one over the weekend. I wasn't a fan of their choice of alloy (reminded me of some Halfrauds/Wolfrace type wheels from the early 2000's) but it looked pretty cool. Bigger than I'd perhaps expected, too.
Shite photo, sorry:
Just my two pence, but echoing what @Sash has suggested I would 100% forget about trying to claim via his own insurance and go straight to theirs. I did this many years back when a neighbour hit my Golf by somehow driving across my drive (pretty sure I posted on here about it at the time)...
Brings back many childhood memories, my mum had one just like this when I was growing up. Dad had a light blue E class estate which he eventually fitted a whopping big LPG tank in to the boot. I hated it, aside from not being able to fit my bike in anymore, my friends used to take the piss and...
Just booked the weekend and full day session. Will definitely be a case of “all the gear, no idea” as it’ll likely be my first time on track in it. At least you’ll see me coming 😂
