You're turning into the ultimate wheel nerd :ROFLMAO:
How anyone can make a 15" wheel weigh over 7kg is beyond me. I don't think that's much different to the 17s on my 197.
BTCC have access to unlimited wheels pretty much. In my experience, it tends to be the inner part of the rim that buckles, so you may not notice it, but it wouldn't surprise me if they get through a few. That being said, circuits are probably the most friendly place for wheels.
I had a set of...
There's definitely something in this tbh. A lot of wheels do seem susceptible to buckling, so maybe there's a bit of a compromise to be made? I guess stuff designed for rally cars should be quite tough in theory, though wheels are fairly disposable things in the world of motorsport.
I like the...
I do like these, though I was always more of a DC2 fan. They're a nice looking car for sure though. The only thing I'm not that into are the factory wheels. They let it down a bit for me, so I'd have to change them.
Can't say I'm surprised by the mount. They did one for the Escort years ago and it just used to disintegrate, was nowhere near up to the job. The Clio ones seem ok, but I would be cautious with others.
Van looks great otherwise 👍
You can't police every mile of every stage, but you can usually cover most of the access points. The vast majority won't stray that far, so will stay in areas where there are marshals and can be controlled. Some will hike up the road and out of sight, which I would usually do too on events like...
A lot of that footage looks quite old. Things have changed a lot in the UK in recent years, and a lot of effort goes into spectator safety. A lot of rallies have spectator pens in safe places, and there are prohibited zones that you're not allowed in (the outside of corners, escape roads etc)...
That's pretty nasty.
I did actually quite like the early-to-mid 2000s excess though. At least people were being creative and building unique cars. Now it's just a set of those shitty Maxton extensions, some springs and a pops n bangs remap. Oh and maybe some Bola/Rota wheels if they're feeling...
It's quite impressive how much a car can stand up to really. They are tough old things!
I think Mark is the sole distributor for Safety Devices' Renault range. He does occasionally run group buys on here. He's a good bloke. As @Hollidog says, not cheap, but good to deal with in my experience.
There's nothing wrong with a good bolt-in cage. Plenty of pukka competition cars (even factory ones) have used them over the years. A weld-in can offer more protection, but much of it's job is also to generally stiffen the shell for performance, as well as to protect the occupants. The main...
A YouTuber I know has made a video of it:
It's basically a new car. Amazed some of the delivery stuff has survived. You could never drive it really, would ruin it.
I'd rather have a 'worse' one methinks, so I could actually drive it.
Nothing wrong with Clios. Where you're going wrong is by comparing them to more modern cars, as any old car will fall down in that respect.
It all depends what you want. I've owned and driven plenty of newer and "better" cars since getting into R.S. Clios, but they still have a lot to offer...
Wow.
I always wanted a 22b. It's the ultimate road-going Impreza, but I think that dream is now very much out of reach :ROFLMAO:
It's a huge sum of money, that's for sure, but where are you ever going to find another like that I guess. It wouldn't surprise me if someone pays it, but I think...
The suspension parts are nearly all cross-compatible between 197/200 models. The only difference is that the top mount design changed in 2010, which also means different springs. The front dampers may be different too, but I don't remember. Provided you know which one you have, you can buy...
I had a Klarius system from ECP on my 172 Cup. I fitted as it had a Ktec Super Sport Stealth when I bought it and it was loud enough to wake the dead. It was bloody awful.
The Klarius was ok. Seemed to fit alright, but the centre silencer had to be replaced fairly quickly, as it started...
Gearbox was for motorsport use. At that time, Group N rally cars had to use the OEM gearbox and ratios, hence Subaru doing it to their limited editions, while I think RS Evos have similarly short ratios. They were very committed to the cause compared to the likes of Ford and Lancia.
It will be...
