Looks like you got away with it with not driving too far 👍
How did you actually manage to put double the amount of oil in? 🤔 1 x 5 litre plus a little splash more is enough.
Looks like another mystery CS poster.
Has a problem. Asks advice for said problem, but never comes back on to read the solution or give anymore info.
It always baffles me when people do that 🤔
I noticed today, when the car was stationary with the engine running, everytime I press the clutch there's a strange noise you can hear coming through the air vent. Almost like a metallic, ticking noise. When the clutch is released the noise is gone.
Normally I have the music on so I don't hear...
I stand by what I said earlier. £2750 for somebody who wants to bring it back to a good condition, plus Cambelt and aux belt will need doing. It needs a lot of body work looking at the pics costing a few £££s if it's done to a good standard.
For somebody who just wants to drive it and not too...
He's had the car for 6 years and " no service history." 😲 it's not an engine I'd want to buy. So that's a £700ish bill straight away. He says car park dents. So I'm assuming it's got more than the odd small dent here and there. The bonnet is more than likely suffering the big dent at the front...
I had a 172 from new for 4 years. I've now had my 182 from new for almost 17 years. I can't believe how fast time as gone lol.
Looks wise. I prefer the 182, the wheels the twin exhaust. As for performance there's nothing in it at all.
I think some of the very late 172s had cruise and traction...
Like @Clio_fool says. You'll be hard pushed to find one sub 50k miles. You're really limiting yourself there mate.
If it was me I'd raise my limit to around 70 or 80k miles and a well cared for example. Chances are any problems or parts that will have needed replacing will have been done.
And...
The coolant bottle should be replaced at 100k miles?
Never heard that one before.
If it's the water pump you're talking about, then yeah I'd change that when you get the cam belt and aux belt done. I think I'm on my 3rd water pump in 17 years of ownership and 110k miles👍
If it ain't broke don't...
Sorry for jumping on somebody else's post.
There's a guy on Facebook called Craig Cockburn who was selling new led boards for the brake light. It might be worth dropping him a message if he has any left. They were £30 posted.
