my first '72 ran 173bhp/146lbft standard apart from an itg filter (same day standard 172s were running 165odd and 182s running 175-180)
then with 182 manifold, k-tec stealth, decat, AWT matched inlets, itg filter, samco bend it ran 188bhp/160lbft
never heard of him ive just always used john, i beleive thats where joe (JCC) got his done in the end too. plus hes extremely cheap for what he does is always a bonus! beleive i payed around £40 or there abouts for my setup (thats probably not even double what a shitty tyre garage would charge...
try the above and also if you fancy opening it up, whap the heatsink off it and put some better thermal paste on it, if the heatsink has somehow ended up not seated properly from a knock or a drop that would cause this issue.
they will over time yes, no worse than any other tire really, but the issue is because they are hard tyres they last ages! just swap the fronts and the backs once they start to wear though and they will be fine
i just gave it a rub down to remove all the roughness then gave it a good clean with AG engine and machine cleaner then a few coats of the paint over that and it seems fine!
