Hit & Run on my 172

That's a proper sh*tter. :dapprove: You'll need to speak to some body shops, chap. There's no 'book price' for work like that. Generally with these things, if the rear is stuffed like that, it's game over as far as insurance is concerned, as I believe the rear end is a 'one piece' so...

    RIP Trophy 433/500

Unfortunately I think you've only yourself to blame. You should always expect the unexpected, and be travelling with enough time to stop. The corner from the railway crossing at Ants for instance. The railway aren't going to send a man out every time the barriers are down incase someone...

Renault OEM jack - snapped last night

Ahhh the widowmaker strikes again. I went in, told them it broke the first time I used it, the guy looked at me blankly and said "that'll be £eightysomething plus vat". I laughed and walked out. Forget it - buy a trolley jack. Not like you can do much at the side of the road with a 182...

So travel. If you're looking for a decent car within a 200m radius, you're not going to get anything decent. :S Most of my cars have been bought from over 200 miles away.

So you haven't been landed with a larger bill yet ? If it's fixed price, then it's a fixed price. Their problem it took longer than they assumed.

    Clio 172 insurance is ridiculous

You're back !! (or are you ?! .. perhaps not...) I'd say that was a fair price, as mentioned, the rollcage won't help you... I think your main problem is you're getting zero use out of the car so it seems unjustified... Have you tried fully comp cover as a comparison ? Sometimes is...

CSS Survey - A few points to note.

Good job you clarified that. Next year, please ensure the day does not clash with my social calender. Also a fuel card to help get there would be great. Lunch should be free too. Maybe you could pay us to attend ? Might lean towards less complaints. Cheers.

    Track days / High revving

Seen as maximum power output is ~6500RPM, I'd say the engines were designed to do just that.. all day long. The most load going through the 'box is actually max torque which is somewhere around 4kRPM IIRC. People that pootle about in cars, driving like Miss Daisy have more problems than...
