Depending on the damage, but usually it is economically more viable to buy a decent engine and throw that in, instead of rebuilding the old one.
I did an engine swap instead of rebuilding.
I need to get some photos of it really, as because it isn't mine I've just been helping with the work and not keeping a photo log. I'll take more when the new Cams arrive and we put it all back together :)
Yeah, although because I've been running spacers for so long it won't make much difference to mine bud.
You good? Sorry I haven't rung back yet mate, proper manic over christmas with decorating and work.

Lol! I actually love r53's, had a JCW in grey.
But the Mrs has insisted on a more comfortable, usable car so it is hear to stay I am afraid chap! If I do sell, i'll give you first shout :)
So, small update on this. The car is at the garage getting the Brembos machined and fitted, and some aerocatches put on.
The calipers have had 6.3mm shaved off them, for a trial fit, which will be tomorrow. See if any more needs to come off. Going for black calipers with white Brembo logos...
Cheers bud. BMW won't be servicing it in my ownership anyway, so I may as well start using my trusted independant. He is running a BMW E46 M3 in Britcar 24hr this year, so he is well accustomed to 'Ze Bavarians' :)
Cheers guys! Further good news today, BMW are fixing the idrive system under warranty. Whole new unit! Happy days. Rest of the service was done, and the inspection was fine with the exception of;
- Both rear anti roll bars have play, so they are getting replaced.
- One of the rear anti-wishbone...
Without wishing to sound rude, but with the cost involved, can't you buy a £2.5k motorway chugger and use that instead?
It's a lot of effort for motorway driving.
Bilsteins are good (I've had b14s on the car for 3 years). But I wouldn't say they are good enough for a rally car. Largely because they aren't adjustable.
I'd look to get some adjustables, so you can change for Tarmac vs gravel etc. If budget is a problem, speak to @MicKPM regarding BC's. I'm...
No offence, but the seats you've posted a pic of will offer significantly less support than the Sparco R100's.
Just my opinion. Feel free to ignore it :)
Absolutely love it. One of my favourite cars on here. Genuinely.
My first car was a blue 1.1 of that era, swiftly followed by a GTi 'tro. I thought it was hilarious fun. Until I released it would fold up like tin foil in a crash. But with a cage etc your's has that issue solved.
No worries, always nice to get more clio's on track
Brakes - ATE superblue or high quality fluid, Braided brake lines, Brembo High Carbon discs front, standards rear. Ferodo DS2500s or similar good racing / track / road pads at the front, standard pads for rear. 95 per cent of the...
Only just seen this. I kept mine in I believe. Although it was a while ago. @NorthloopCup being the top man he is will know!
Car is off having the Brembo's machined so I can't check I'm afraid bud :(
