Mk2’s are cheaper for parts. But out of the box it wouldn’t see which way a 197/200 went on track.
But then stick some tyres/brakes/suspension on a Mk2 and it’s a different story. The weight of the Mk3 hinders it somewhat.
Ultimately it’s personal preference as they’re both much of a...
No point in thinking about that. My father in law sold his Lotus Cortina for £80 scrap back in the day.
For arguments sake let’s say it was 1984. 40 years ago.
How much would he have spent on storage? At £50 per month that’s £20-odd grand alone. Then Mechanical upkeep? Cosmetic upkeep...
Not the cheapest one I’ve bought, but I bought a 2005 Inferno that had a load of tasty mods on it.
Guy gave me all the standard bits too.
Paid £2k for the car.
Spent a weekend putting it back to standard.
Sold all the mods for £2k
Did 2 track days in it then Sold it for £3795. And I think (??)...
Sachs Motorsport clutch and organic cover plate on mine. (From PMS)
Gripper fitted and track only, it’s lovely. (But it f**king STANK the first time I used it 😂)
As a rough idea, I am just coming to the end of a small resto on a ph1.
Brakes all round
Shocks and springs all round
Suspension arms
TRE’s
Ball joints
Tyres
Cambelt kit
Aux belt kit
Major service
New exhaust
And a general tidy up/clean up underneath
I think my total spend so far...
It’s just good business mate. My worst fear is and always has been; if he takes that home, will his neighbours think we sell s**t cars?
It’s pointless prepping them badly and customers not thinking ‘wow’ when they see it. As soon as they see it they want it. Less viewings and faster turnaround...
I have to wear headphones instead of using the stereo as the noise they make is mental.
It’s only me working on the whole estate on a weekend so f**k knows who they’re shouting at, feathery incontinent c***s.
Got a MAMMOTH job in this weekend. A gloss black (with black pack! 🤦♂️) paint correction on a Mitsubishi Shogun.
Whole car - 2000 wet flat, 2500, 3000, polish.
Fml. 😂
11 miles… 😂😂
Mate I’m not doing any this year. Other than Anglesey at the end of July for CSF. I may (?!) squeeze another one in afterwards, and will shout you if I do. X
It was £1000 more expensive to sell the old one and buy a new one.
Rather than spending £2k on a full service new brakes, 7 new tyres, new jockey wheel and new wiring on the old one.
🕺
It’s good to see - what was the bill going to be if you had to pay it?
It’s making me want to buy a 320d for my wife. I want a 330d but I can’t afford it and there are loads of cheap 100k mile 320’s around. But the chains put me off. This could be the best solution!
Having been in my mates with sound deadening (the silver backed black rubber stick on stuff) on his floor rear doors and roof, and owned mine (nothing, not even ply lining or a bulkhead) I can safely say that sound deadening makes a HUGE difference. 😂
