My gearbox is leaking oil again, I ve already had the selector shaft seal kit changed and its dry as a bone down there in the under tray. It does however appear to be leaking from the near side driveshaft gaiter. Its not just a dribble either.
The garage have suggested replacing the gaiter and I...
Injectors are quite noisy tbh on the F4R its not exactly refined at idle, compare it to another one at a meet and you will probably find they are all as bad as each other.
Occassionally the drivers door card, strut top/ mounts knock like a jehovahs witness in first in full attack mode, and the drivers seat is like a fooking rocking chair. Apart from that shes mint! Not bad for a W reg french piece though.
If it leaks its either the sunroof frame to roof skin seal or the sunroof frame to glass seal. Fair enough seal it with duck tape as a temporary measure until you can afford a new seal but as a permenant fix? Erm no. Looks cack and siliconed up sunroofs belong on £500 bangers.
All the details are on the back off the certificate on how to get it changed through VOSA.
If it was within 7 days the garage that did it maybe able to change it on the system and reprint a certificate.

21, Ph1 172/ Mk1 Golf Clipper Cab.
Insurance is about 1200 for the pair, the bulk of which is the Clio as the Golf is on a classic/ limited mileage policy.
3k should get you a tidy one on sub 70k with the belt done, mines done 62k and I paid a fair bit less than that, make sure its got the alloy bonnet and the shift light too!
ST is a nice bit of kit but the 172 is more fun to drive.
The ST is also worth double what your phase 1 is worth and in my opinion its not double the car.
If it was me I would just use the ST whilst he is away, will make a nice change and take the clio off the road. I wouldn't think the clio...
Definatly an immobiliser fault, probably just want the keys recoding, half an hour labour charge somewhere with a clip machine, if they fail to recode you will be looking at a new key.
Theres a seal kit available for the selector, it can be changed without taking the box out or stripping it down,
Part number: R77 01 389 670 £32.45 (+Vat).
I ve just had mine changed, may still have a leak though, im monitoring it.
Different gearbox and slightly different ratios in the ph1, thats why its quicker,
6.6 0-60 I believe. The cable throttle is the main reason it feels rawer, in the real world though I wouldn't think the performance difference is massive, your best off
speaking to someone who's owned one of each...
Pre March 1st 2001 FTW!
The ph1s are getting old so therefore require more careful maintenance, like you say though they are not expensive cars to maintain given the performance.
Pre March 1st is around £180 to tax verus £280 on a ph2.
Tyres are cheaper as the F1's are only 15" but apart from...
Mint got to love sunflower.
I struck a deal on one, went to get it and the engine sounded like a bag of spanners, ended up with the poverty silver version.
Minter except for the exhaust, weight that in and get a KTR/ Prospeed/GDI cut into the rear bumper with a 182 surround, thats what I will be doing on mine.
