Re: PS - It's not *too* bad, although I wouldn't run a performance-critical SQL instance on a Virtual instance.
PPS - I think that's changed lately, as they also revised their SQL Virtual licencing to reflect the number of vCores you run SQL on instead of the number of physical...
If you've got all the software licences and discs for what you've got installed, it'll take you about a day if it's your first go. Takes me now an hour (maybe hour and a half!) depending on what's being installed but I seem to do it on a weekly basis!
Never have I turned down your opinion - more from frustration you won't listen to mine because it's not how VMware say you should spend your money...
I've always said that your full VMware installation is the 'right' way to do it, but in my experience the only place that have ever done the...
Actually, we aren't the average SMB. 80% of our estate is tied up in Citrix servers. Our core application uses 25 of those Blades for publishing alone, as twice a year we need to be able to cater for up to 1000 users comfortably. They did used to use all 30 of them, but after I redesigned and...
Bizarre issue with my own laptop now - just randomly Internet Explorer will stop talking to the internet! Open a new IE window (even leaving the other one open) and the new one works, but the old one continues to not work!
Weird as fewk.
Allow me to inventory our environment for you (just what's been put in this year):
EVA 4400
8 DL380s specced to the back teeth
12 DL360s specced to the back teeth
40 DL140s specced to the back teeth
10 DL160s specced to the back teeth
Last year, 30 Dell 1855 Blades went in with 6 PowerEdge...
No, that's why you build resilience into your applications... DCs should come in pairs, use clusters for HA environments like SQL/database servers...
Perfectly suitable for a production environment where HA is required for the end product, not the individual instances.
TBH you need to re-read what I've put, and 'amend' a couple of your digs. Also, I think an apology is necessary for making it personal. Nowhere did I comment on your abilities or knowledge, simply that you seem to have a very rose-tinted version of how SMBs work.
Banks and the likes on...
Got both of those showing on a Latitude sat next to me, which works fine. Just bad sectors, it happens. Shouldn't be anything to cause the issue you're having.
I'd be tempted to use safe mode, save all your stuff onto a USB p**n stick and reinstall Windows tbh, it doesn't seem to have any...
Should be alright-ish then with a 42", but as you suspected I'd say a 50" would:
A) look s**t on SD content
B) be huge and probably give you a headache...
Ouch!
Just slapped myself in the nuts when I sat down with a laptop... Dell Latitude ATG D620, with the 9-cell battery on the front and the D-bay battery...
They're not light... Although my head is now! :dead:
So EPOS support then... Whilst I don't wish to sound condescending, that's not exactly IT support...
Besides, bin them if they do that sort of thing, get a nice shiny new one with a flash drive running XPe or CE .NET.
Whilst correct, strictly speaking that's not a hang - it's just running extremely slowly and should recover itself ;)
Although if you've let your server get that bad, I'd go ask HR for your P45.
Wouldn't be using it if I could get away with it, but I've been told if I get caught with the Outlook connector on my computer I'll get a shoeing!
Would like Notes 8, but our 'communications' team haven't had chance to look at it yet so all we get is a user-unfriendly interface and shoddy...
Why is Dell responsible for your f**king your installation of the Operating System up? This is what frustrates me, because it's a Dell/Sony/Toshiba computer it's instantly Dell/Sony/Toshiba's fault when YOU install dodgy software and YOU corrupt the installation.
Give me a hardware fault, and...
Yes.
But basically it allows you to put your USB p**n stick or removable hard drive on the network so that your whole family can watch your p**n collection.
WTF?
I assume you got charged because you 'saved' £50 by having a one year RTB warranty instead of a 2-year on-site?
More fool you TBH. On-site Warranty FTW.
True - could also be worth looking in the Windows Update section if it's Vista for installed updates, or alternatively looking in Add/Remove Programs (Show Updates) in XP to see if Windows Update installed any updates lately... I know for a while WU was pushing a dodgy Intel driver down that...
That's extremely close for a 50" screen - even a 42" screen is a bit big for sitting that close as far as I'm aware - I'd be more inclined to go with a 37" as it doesn't sound like the room is particularly large.
My dear god, I appear to be getting sensible in my old age. Somebody shoot me!
No, IMHO 'everyone is entitled to there opinion' (their, I assume you mean?) is an excuse. Everyone is entitled to their opinion IF they can justify it.
Without, I'm afraid:
Also, how do you differentiate 'the business world' and 'the home user'? Their support center is in the same...
HDD errors being?
And a 1525 isn't available with the nVidia chip that caused the issue, so it's looking less likely that it's a heat issue. A good idea would be to run something like CoreTemp - that will eliminate heat as being an issue.
Answers to those two will tell us where it's going...
Actually no, I just think you're a bit of a pillock. Got tons of Dell kit, and it rarely goes wrong. We've got a pile of 7 year old Dell servers which were upgraded as part of a refresh, and apart from being 7 years old technology-wise, they're fine. Only one has gone pop, and that was a PSU...
IMHO you don't want to get excessively big - it'd spoil the room. For this very reason, I'm going for a HD projector... No damage to the room space, and lifesize p**n! As for which panel - I like Panasonic panels, they've always seemed pretty good. I've not had a play with the Pioneer but I...
