another 182 if youre lucky. The Mk2 Clio first appeared in 1998. It was another 2 years before the 172 came out. There wont be a performance version of the new Clio when the range makes its debut.
They probably wont replace it for a long while. The new Clio wont be available in a Renaultsport version until 2006, and thatll be a front-engined 4 seater conventional hatch.
Remember the mid-engine R5 Turbo, that didnt ever get replaced.
My better half was distictly cool when I told her Id ordered the Vee. As soon as it arrived she grabbed the keys and shot off in it. Shes loved it ever since :)
Dont get me wrong, my 172 never broke down or anything like that, in fact it was trouble-free despite years of track days and quarter-mile racing. This one just feels so much more solid, better quality.
Cant help thinking my new car is much better built than the 172 was. All the panels fit nicely, and the interior seems much more solid - no rattles etc and the fit of the headunit, glovebox and the other dash components seems a lot better.
Is the Dieppe factory making improvements?
Hope you get it sorted mate - this is a really common one so cant be too serious. Be nice to the people at your local dealer - you need to establish a relationship with them as you didnt buy your car from them.
Existing Origin b2 and Origin b2 Solo users can download this feature automatically when updating their unit. Another good reason to keep your unit updated!
Woohoo!
Have a look on autotrader - they come up regularly. If you want a new one you can just walk in to your local dealer and pick one up for around £25k. Some of the brokers are advertising them for £23k or £24k, but thats an awful lot of money to spend with people youve never met.
End of the day you dont buy a Clio as a financial investment, you buy it because its fun.
In the highly unlikely event that it turns out to be a classic, you got lucky.
If you want to hang on to your money, buy some premium bonds and get the bus :)
You can get Mk1s for about 15k - the model change didnt help, but it means that 18 month old Mk1s are a real bargain. I expect mine to lose about half its value in 3 years at a guess.
Hi mate, welcome to Cliosport!
The build quality on mine is way better than my 172 - I think theyve probably responded to the issues theyve had in the past. List price is £27,100 by the way!
The Clio is completely different to cars like the Exige. For one thing its easy to live with -...
I agree theyre in completely different market sectors. I think the banner headline on the mag reads "The wildest way to spend £30k". I guess youd have to include an Evo 8 to justify that headline too.
But a win, as they say, is a win :D
I actively considered the VX220 turbo (yes I drove it on a track etc) before buying my V6. Straight-line stats do not tell the whole story. It depends what youre after, particularly if its an everyday car.
Welcome to Cliosport mate!
If you like toys like climate control, Xenon lights, leather seats etc, get a 172. Cup is a bit better to drive, more hardcore image.
