Your 172 can haul those 17"s no problem. And your speedo will be more accurate than before (they under-read significantly, with the 17"s on theyre closer to reality).
*edit* - and remember youll want to lower the car a little too.
Nice one. The revised front end looks good IMO, not too sure about the exhausts but it was a pretty good effort from Renault I think. Those wheels would have to go if it was mine. Cracking car just the same though.
And yes Dai, the Eibachs will really improve your car.
Get a letter from the lease company that your company car was supplied from. They should be able to confirm your (no) claims history. I did this and Tesco were ok with it.
After sl*gging off Tesco in a thread earlier this month, I was amazed to get my renewal through the post this week. Last year it was £509, and this year they want £446! I had max NCB already, so it wasnt that. Amazing, a price reduction, and I didnt even ask!
I have a Pipercross filter fitted. You get your money back after a couple of services anyway, as you dont have to pay Renault to replace it every time.
<A target=_blank href= "http://www.mytyres.co.ukhttp://www.mytyres.co.uk have given me good service in the past. Toyo T1S, 205/40/17 are about £62 at the moment.
Yoz, do you have any prices for 17"s at the moment mate?
There was a thread about this a while ago - concerning the fact that fitting 17"s would throw the speedo out by a few mph. So I did some careful tests yesterday using the Origin B2 as a measure. I assume the Origin is accurate :)
The speedo on my car still over-reads even with the 17"s fitted...
You can never really tell until you get there - it depends on how they measure the noise. Never yet seen a Clio have a problem though, and there are lots of de-catted cars on here.
Its ok to drive fast, as long as you realise that your car wasnt designed for racing, and therefore has a few limitations. The main one is brakes. Unless youve spent a load of dosh on expensive calipers and discs, your brakes will begin to overheat after a few laps - after all how often do you...
true, and the great majority of owners dont get these problems at all. My car is faultless, despite a lifetime of abuse on tracks and quarter-mile strips.
Trackday insurance is very much a personal choice, and something that it would be foolish to dispense advice upon (tempting fate after all!). All you can do is a quick poll to see how many people buy it - youll find its not many at all.
Tesco tried this one with their customers last year - competitive for the first year then bend-over-and-bite-the-pillow when it came to renewal. By the simple process of logging in as a new customer the quote miraculously came back to something like normal.
Depends on how you phrase your question mate - try starting a thread called "How much do you enjoy driving your 172 Mk2" and youll get a different slant on the ownership experience. Everyone likes a good moan, and most of the problems listed above are trivial and easily sorted out by dealers.
