When I bought my 17"s they came with Falken ZE512 tyres. If you want to scare yourself to death, get some of these. They get better as the tread wears, but theyre absolutely lethal when theyre new.
An Eibach Pro spring kit will lower the car by about 25mm all round. I have 17s on with these springs and no rubbing whatsoever. You only need to get the wheel alignment checked after fitting the springs.
