probably fine then. if the engines upset the engine management light will come on!

if the car is stuttering on the limiter, its fine. it has nothing left to give. if its happening all the time, spluttering/mis-firing etc then get it diagnosed. might have to change the plugs/coil pack/ht leads etc etc etc
