rite then, below are the performance stats for the phase 1 19 16v. this is from the 1991 WhatCar car of the year feature. has any1 got any stats for the clio 16v and williams they cud compare to these, so we can see what theyr like?
renault 19 16v (137bhp/116lbft)
1040kgs
max mph

wongy, i doubt very much its the starter thats nakered, itl msot likely be the wiring going to the starter. when the engine gets hot, the wires resistance increases heaps, so when u crank the engine over, not enough current can flow to turn the starter properly. must valver does exactly the...

it should drop straight in. jsut make sure you use the clio engine mounts, and it will fit fine. the clio uses the 1794cc f3p(8v) engine, which is identical dimension wise to the 440turbo lump. wud go pretty well in a clio!!!

the 32mm valves will defnatly fit, but im not sure about the 34mm valves. the stock valves are really close to the spark plug anyway, and an extra 2mm radius will be almost to the plug hole, then uv got the valve seat width as well. if u want a pisture of the 16v combustion chamber showing the...
well, i can remeber a few months back, nick was contacted by sum1, and he sed theyl all fit together.
the diesel crnakshaft, id get from a scrappy. find a ren19 1.9 diesel. pull out the crank. bin the rest.
wat i wud do, is to balance all the bottom end bits, get the rods shot-peened, or...
to convert an f7p to williams spec, ur gunna need:
williams/1.9 diesel crankshaft= by from a scrappy
standard 16v rods= got em already
clio willaims pistons(82.7mm)= 75quid each from ren
clio williams piston rings=35quid from ren(not sure whether thats a set or not)
optional
32mm inlet...
the 172 pistons and willy pistons r useless on the stock 1.8 crank, because theyd stop about 5mm from the top of the bore! so id need a 2litre crank. i can keep the same rods, jsut use 2litre crank and pistons.

jsut looked thru the engine pics. is the f4r engine an ally block or cast iron, like the original f7 engines? is it using wet liners?
also ive noticed that the inlet an exhasut valves look identical to the f7p valves(inlet 30mm and exhaust 28mm). ive got sum pics of the gasflowed ports if ur...

okay, ive been looking into this a bit, so im thinkin of getting my flywheel lightened. anyone no the standard weight of a 16v fly? also does a gt turbo flywheel fit, becus grey devil industries have shsved 50% of the weight from there gt turbo flywheels, and they are strong as hell! think they...
i no decat pipes can come in silencer type boxes, so is it possible to gut a standard cat. pull out the mesh interior, leaving a hollow chamber??
jimbo
p.s. as u can see, im a stingy bugger, so if i can buy a nakered cat from a breakers, and create a decat pipe on the cheap, them im up for...
yes u are rite, in that the 2litre engine uses the diesel 1.9 litre crank. however i dont think its a straight swap, in that the weights mite need to be changed in order for it to rev higher than 4k that a diesle does, for example. also to make it a 2litre u need the clio williams pistons, which...
solid lifters should only be used for high rpm super wild cam engines! solid lifters dont pump up with oil at high rpms like hydraulic, so u dont get valve bounce. downsides to this r that they r noisy in operation and need adjusting avery 15k miles. just recon ur old lifters, as can be seen...
wat colour is the coolant????? if it looks like diahorrea, then its the engine block rusting!! easy to sort. remove the rad, use a garden hose, and reverse flush it through. remove the expansions bottles and clean that out as well. repalce the thermostat, the reassemble it all. run it for a few...
with my 19, ive got a rammed airbox, and gasflowed head, with standard exhaust. the benefits arent that great, but with a chip and stainless decatted exhaust, the power thruout th rev range will be improved. for me, ive noticed it feels more torquey during normal driving, and wen floggin the...
well the cylinder heads are interchangable. its the manifolds that are slightly different. as for cams, u can buy piper cams 270 fast road for 143quid for performance on the net www.potn.co.uk. the vernier pulleys are about 140quid also. these are exchange cams.
as for bottom end, my engines...
ive seen the new v6 in the flesh. about two months ago driving back from oxford to glos, 2 v6s went past me. in front was the new one(not even disguised!!!) followed the old version. looked mean as hell!

exactly!! the only thing that lets diesels down are the very narrow power band, therfore u need lots of gearchanges to acc well.
as for the corsa, the torque they produce is pretty much linear, uv got a big wedge of torque after 2k rpm onto the 4600rpm peak, whereas the f7p is quite lame...

the answer to that is torque. the corsa puts out more torque, at a lower and more useable rpm. thats the reason why the f7p needs revving, because the torque is low and peaks high in the rev range. bhp sells cars, torque wins races!!
the only palce the f7p is any gud, is at pulling the car...

if u want sound on the 19 16v, get a hacksaw and remove the front section of the airbox lid. this then creates a sound so loud, and v8 racer like, induction kits r poo in comaprison!! relased a bit of power too! and it costs nothing at all!
