From personal experience i'd say you'd have the edge, but i'd take the VXR anyday as its a nice car with big tuning potential. He's one re-map away from smoking you.

Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project Spec-2's are epic in the dry with a bit o heat in them, but they just cant cope even with the slightest damp.

Spec-2 tyres are just hopeless in the wet. I did Oulton two weeks ago and was wheel spinning in 3rd on the straights! scary.

They are philips bulbs and same on 172 and 182. I bought a new pair for 90 quid so not cheap. You could also have ballist pack issues as well?

Some good mods there that will increase driveablity and the condition of the car. Please Please dont do any exterior mods! Willys look sweet as they are.

LOL, bet that heat wrap increases power my 0.1 of a bhp, but then the weight of the wrap uses that 0.1 of a bhp lol. Cant see the point in this at all even more so because you have not wrapped the manifold. TBH that wrap will just fall off in a couple of 1000 miles and you will be constantly...

Dont do it! Mk1's just fall apart at the seams. With mine its just a constant battle keeping on top of 'niggles'. I only do 1500 miles a year in mine yet every time I drive it something goes wrong! lol Its like treading on egg shells.
